Team News: Arsenal vs AC Milan - All Out Assault

Arsene Wenger has lived up to his word when he said he was going for an all out assault on AC Milan in an attempt to over come a 4-0 deficit in the knockout stages of the Champions League at Ashburton Grove tonight.

A disastrous first leg saw us humbled at the San Siro and battered as we came away four goals to the worse a couple of weeks ago, but with the odds massively in favour of the Italian giants the shackles are off.

It doesn`t matter if we take another drubbing tonight as long as it happens because we gave it our all to try and score four or more goals, and Arsene has named the most attacking line-up I`ve seen in a good long while.

Let`s take a look.

Game on b*tches!
We need 3! Gooooaal!
Good one Ox. Committed those defenders. I think Theo and Gervinho must take notes from that boy.
Looks like you might actually do it!
Szczesny is a beast!

Best half of football ever. In this history of the club. In the history of the world. Come on you mother f***ing Gunners!!!!
I ******** hate this.. I know tonight is going to end in heartbreak. But they are almost making me believe.. So unfair.
Fcb, no room for complacency yet. This Milan team is experienced and I suspect our lads will become unsure in the early 2nd half. But, if we get our leader rallying the troops and get an early goal, it will be 6 tonight. Still, feet on the ground, guys.
******** mother******** italians gonna sneak in a win.. but Im so ******** proud of the boys.
Wyn Mills
Sajit - Why the negativity man? Jesus. We might get through, we might not, but if you can be negative after that 45 minutes ... man ... I don't know what to say to you.
Just imagine if it was Arshavin, instead of Gervinho tonight. Something isn't right with Gervinho since the African cup of Nations.
I love the team Rocky.. Just that its Arsenal and God doesnt like us having a good time.. If this was any other team they would be going thru.... but nice things dont happen to Arsenal.
Fantastic folks...good luck in the second. Why not just get 5 and be done with it.
Not the Ox, please. We need that kid.
So so proud already!!!
The oX injured. That's just typical of our luck.

Cone on Chamakh... show some headbutting skillz
what a game, hope u do it
We could have done with Arshavin in this game.
Wyn Mills
So what? Still so proud of the guys
It looks like we are satisfied to have kept hope up in the 1st half. We are going out as we don't look up for the fight anymore with Song just looking to play the neat pass.
Great performance Arsenal. Unlucky.
Awesome effort boys. You did us proud.
Proud of the lads. They gave everything. So close...!

Someone has to explain to me how the intensity dropped in the 2nd. We needed big players in there tonight, just to take the team over the line. This Milan side couldn't have scored tonight. It is an opportunity lost. Well, the positive now is we can avoid the distraction of CL and focus on that CL spot.
Shows unbelievable character to even try to go for it. Wenger and Arsenal are heroes.
We just didnt have the strength in depth Naija. When the Ox picked up his injury our intensity dropped.
Wyn Mills
Naijagunner, playing your hearts out for 90 minutes is very tough. I dont think anyone hid today.. Its obvious that youll run out of steam after going at it from 1st minute...
Wow, so nearly! So Proud of The ARSENAL!
Hope Ox and Theo are back for Newcastle... We need them. And I agree with wyn...we could have used Arshavin
Naija - It's impossible to keep up that intensity for 90 minutes, you just can't do it. But we had to go for it early on to be in with a chance. The tactics were spot on. Brilliant effort. Looking forward to the Newcastle game now.
Love the poll Rocky...
Its also the quality of our replacements. Park and Chamakh really didn't add anything to the team. Players you would hope would be able to hold the ball up better.
Wyn Mills
Great game, almost shaped into an epic. At least we went out all guns blazing. What a game. Great effort lads.
Thanks Saj. I didn't think it would be fair to single anyone out today. That was a first rate team effort and everyone needs gredit.
Great fightback, sadly without the result you wanted. Well played, you showed more fight in that 90 minutes than Spurs did in their last 180!
cheers fifth column and fans of other clubs for your sporting comments
Indeed GV. You know you've done alright when other fans start saying well done.
Did Chamakh even touch the ball? Give Ox 90 mins already. Walcott was so crap tonight I can't believe he gets more time than Ox.
Rocky, you're right. Not the time to single anyone out. The whole team can be proud.
Wyn Mills
Now now, let's not spoil the atmosphere Willy 10. Everyone put in their shift. And Walcott, he had a hand (or leg appropriately) with Rosicky's goal. An Arshavin on the bench would have been a more effective substitute. But we have sent him to Zenit. And by we, I mean us fans. Great team effort.
Will - The Ox came off because he was injured. I'm certain he would have played the full 90 had he been able to. He is immense.
Guyfox: "Great team effort". Right after "we have sent him to we, I mean us fans". Lol! Well, I can tell you I wasn't a part of that "team". Hahaha!
Not to single him out, I just think Song will need to be shown clips of his late 2nd half performance just for his own improvement. He did have opportunities to play the right pass but either mis-placed it or went for the intricate pass. Having said that, he played his part in the commendable performance of the team last night.
Too true on AA: that the 'fans' sent him away on loan at a time when he would have been so useful to us.

@Will 10, I have to disagree with you on Walcott. His runs on & off the ball were a constant help to our attacks, either creating space, opportunities or free kicks. And until he got injured he covered defensive duties diligently too. I thought Gerv had a week game to be honest and was one on one with the keeper but decided to let a defender come back before getting a shot off.

It was a shame that when Chamakh & Park came on we lost all shape and any semblance of midfield creativity. On Songs attempts to play that killer pass instead of the' right' pass, I think it a shame because he can pull them off. I think I'm correct saying he has the best through-ball accuracy in the league.

No 10, he tried too hard last night. He needed to think of the team more; anyway, it is true if you don't buy a ticket, you can't win the Lottery. If only he got one of those 'wrong' passes right......
I do agree Naija, in the last 10 mins we just needed to build attacks rather than play play those balls. But hey ho he had a very solid game even though he still looked tired from his 20 hour round trip last week, in which he would've played whole hearted as it was an ANC qualifier. He is also only 24 (younger than Adam Johnson) and in any other team would be a young player, so I think the odd rush of blood to the head and a few mistakes can still be excused. Just realised that he has got 8 assists this season!
