Team News: Wolves vs Arsenal

Arsenal travel to Wolves tonight to face off in a match that could prove vital to both teams for two very different reasons.

The mighty Gunners look to widen the gap between themselves and the chasing pack who are all looking to gain Champions League status, whilst Wolves make a last ditch attempt to steer clear of the relegation zone.

Wolverhampton have been the whipping boys of the Premier League of late whilst we have been the form team.

Victory tonight would leave us in a great position as we look for our 17th consecutive St Totterinham`s Day.

Here`s how the teams line up.

No excuses now against 10 men. Complacency is the only danger. We've taken our foot off the pedal again.

Wigan are giving United something close to a schooling at the DW. It is still 1-0 and should have been 2 had we not had another inexplicably wrong decision by the officials. Hope it remains that way just so the run in will be more of a contest :-)

They have obviously learnt there lesson after QPR. Daylight between us and the pack at this stage is priceless, takes a little bit of pressure off us but we still must be ruthless till the end, I want maximum points.

That game against Wigan is not going to be easy, they are a team in form. Looks like they outplayed ManU today. Today's game was very easy, esp after that sending off. I was only concerned about injuries to our players since Wolves were frustrated with chasing the ball and could have put in some reckless tackles. I'm pleased with Benayoun, terrific professional, does a good job when called on, and put in a good shift today as well. Theo went quiet after his initial contribution, and although LD feels a lot of love for Santos, he was complacent on a few occasions which could cost us later in the season if he keeps this up.

Great result, shockingly bad red card for wolves though harsh is putting it mildly. Santos lol I will have coronary failure if you continue little shoulder tricks and hozzy passes like that.

Wigan look a good ball playing side and it is one game we can't afford to be complacent about. Absolutely outplayed United today even with a very good goal disallowed. The stats show just 1 shot on target for United and that should tell you a bit about how things transpired with that game. Moses and Maloney have to be watched, plus they have a hard working midfield bunch who left United midfield with little space to do their thing. Valencia was kept quiet by his old pals as well. If the teams swapped shirts, it could have been United playing as Wigan!

It wouldn't be a bad idea if we sent some flowers over to our dearly beloved neighbours you know? After all, Basong is their man, and his kind assistance ensured that we all had a stress free match to watch......lolz

Good thought, deledudu but the problem is who will risk going over to deliver them, seeing how 'brutal' they get with their team and Manager once they start their annual choking act.

Good game, Walcott went off the boil later, but was great both for the RVP Pen his goal. But man, is RVP cheeky or what? That penalty was ULTRA-embarassing.

What can I say. Benayoun was massive, Rambo a lot of running and puffing but no bite, I was really hoping he wouldl break his duck tonight, RVP and Theo are developing an understanding that can only get better. Djorou was not to bad tonight but obviously needs games. Song really loves this club. WS supperb saves and good distribution with the hands. What happened to all the trolls that claim only RVP can score for the Arsenal. As from the Milan home match the following have also scored. Tommy 1, Kolchy1, TV2, Gibbs1, Arteta2, Theo3. Definitely a good base to build from.

Feck me, prits! I thought I was a pessimist, but you beat me hands down in that category. You seemed to expect to drop points last night & criticised me because I pointed out that Wolves can't buy a win & virtually guarantee every opposition 3 points at the moment. Now you're worrying over your Wigan game! You're at home FFS! Good grief man, get some lead in your pencil & enjoy your teams resurgence for once. As I said yesterday, 3rd place is yours to lose now, maybe you'd like to swap our team's next PL fixtures? We'll take Wigan at home & you can have QPR away, sound fair?

Get a grip prits mate.

Its just that this season has shown that things can turn around very quickly. Although perhaps only Spurs could turn a 10 pt lead into a 5 gap deficit, this 5 pt lead that we have right now could disappear quickly as well. There is simply no room for mistakes.

"Cautiously optimistic"? I'll have to remember that for future use! Of course, there's no room for mistakes prits & as you say, only Spurs can throw away a 10 point lead. In fact Levy is considering making Spurs a registered charity, we do this so often! ;-)

Last night's result at the DW proves that anything is possible in football, so lets sit back & enjoy the ride until there is no doubt, but you have the momentum, whereas we don't, so the odds are in your favour.

I thought the sending off was harsh but I suppose the letter of the law and all that. Walcott was great until the Wolves fans got to him. I think he will get better at shrugging that sort of thing off...I hope he does anyway.

Santos did look a little exposed, especially in the air, but he too is coming back from injury and should be back to his best against Chelsea.

Someone ought to start an unofficial league table of referees with a red card award going to the one with the worse record of dodgy decisions. A name and shame campaign might do wonders for the standard of officiating.

I think he looked good just at the time he got injured. Different to what we've had but I think he has a role to play. I think he'll be good if he gets a run of games, although I've got to say that Gibbs has really impressed me. I'll be happy to give the two of them next season at least.

Not fair to assess the man when he is only just returning from a 3 months injury lay-off. We all know what he gave the team when he was fully fit and for me, I will pick him in the big games, over Gibbs (both, fully fit).

When are we going to learn not to write off players based on a few performances? I mean, there are so many examples in the recent past. The solution isn't to sell Santos, he will just have to get better.
