Podolski Looking Forward To His Arsenal Challenge

The Mighty Gunners new striker, Lukas Podolski says he`s looking forward to the challenges he faces in the Premier League.

Arsene Wenger took the unusual step (for him at least) of tying up the signature of a player before the season had even finished, and now it`s over we`re being treated to some insight into the mind of our new player.

The German centre forward says he can`t wait to get started.

"Arsenal are a great club, here in Europe and all over the world, at the time the transfer negotiations started between the two clubs, the decision was made really quickly. I`m now looking forward to the challenge at my new club and cannot wait to start after Euro 2012." He said

"I had a very good season with Cologne, I played well and as a result I`m now going to Euro 2012 with lots of confidence. After that, I will be joining up with my new team-mates at Arsenal and it is my goal just to do my best and be successful there."

Podolski also says he felt it was the right time in his career to sample the tastes of a different league after spending all his career in Germany.

"For me it doesn`t really matter when you take such a step in your career, whether it is now or a few years earlier, it`s difficult to say when the time is right. But I`m now 26, and nearly 27, so this step in my career might just be the right time to do it."

I must say I'm looking forward to the Euros to see how he performs. Hopefully he'll do well and report for pre-season full of confidnece!

he will be a top signing for you

I certainly hope so. He's got a left foot similar to a certain Arsenal striker. I only wish that he's here to compliment that player and not replace him.

I love that close up shot of his left foot in the Arsenal.com video. I don't know why but I have already almost fallen in love with it. I don't if it's the shape of it or the way it moves while striking the ball that's affected me in this way.

Sounds like someone has got himself a little man-crush there EG! Lol
Rocky7
More of a "body part" crush, Rocky lol

EG, as long as you don't admit to loving Gibb's tackle like a certain Mr Walcott we'll overlook it. ;)

Top signing. Will make counter-attacking football a genuine reality. And if RVP were to leave, we have a ready made replacement.

Poldi is going to be immense for us next season. He is strong and very direct. Never shy in front of goal either. The idea is for Robin and him to play in the same side; that's going to happen.

This boy is going to kick some ass at the Euro's and then for us and I do believe he will be a Gooner legend. I would love for RVP to stay and for him and Poldi to cause havoc on EPL defences on a weekly basis. Major step in the right direction signing a destroyer like Poldi.
Ned Stark
Interesting to see whether Wenger changes formation for the next season. Poldi could fit in both a 4-4-2 and a 4-3-3; as a left sided attacker in a 4-3-3 and as a strike partner for RvP in a 4-4-2

A mate of mine living in Dussledorf says Podolski is so deceptively strong and quick. We'll be surprised how many defenders he brushes off over the course of a season. So hopefully he won't end up being such a whiny little fanny like Reyes.
Scotch Eggs Rule
RvP will love the space that Poldi makes for him too. Not just his passing but his desire to shoot early and from all angles means defenders will have to rush out to close him down. He is exactly the type of player we have been missing up front.

Also his style might encourage Theo to take more early shots too.
