'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sign For Arsenal Or Face a Lifetime Of Nagging Rob

Like most men, there are only two women in my life who can get me to do things when they want them done. My mum and my wife.

My wife can use "the glare", the cold shoulder or the threat to with hold certain privileges to get her way, whilst my mum`s continuous threats of a good old fashioned clip round the ear have been more than enough to keep me in check from childhood to well into my thirties.

With any luck, the same will be true in the van Persie household after Mrs van Persie and Mrs van Persie offered their opinions that Robin should stay at Arsenal.

His Misuses says the striker should repay the loyalty shown to by the club,

"'Arsenal showed faith in Robin when he was going through a lean time, so we should not repay them by thinking about other clubs.

'Our home life and our children are happy in London.'

Whilst his mum says that the adoration that our great club offers is a good a reason as any to stay,

"Arsenal love him and that`s a great incentive to stay. Arsenal are a fantastic club, They have no debts and Robin is idolised there."

van Persie, a self confessed mummy`s boy, should sign a new deal if he knows what`s good for him, because if I was only allowed to offer one piece of advice to my son, it would be to never piss off the women in his life.*

"Certain priveledges"? No pocket money? No fish and chips on a Friday?

His wife and mother talk sense. I've felt all along the RVP leaving would feel worse than Cesc because we've only just this last 18 month got the player we were all hoping if the injuries didn't hamper him.
Dberg
She takes my Xbox away.

Outrageous! Sounds like an infringement of your "Yuman riiiites" to me Rocky. To lose RVP after the way we've stood by him for 6 injury riddled seasons is surely something any decent human being would consider a moral obligation? Fan or not, I would consider that as something I have to do if I was in that situation.
Scotch Eggs Rule
If he was slightly younger I'd be inclined to agree SER, but given his age he owes it to himself to at least consider other options. I wouldn't hold it against him if he left .... though I might depending on who he chose to join :)
Rocky7
is that a very good innuendo, Mr Mustchin?
Wingston75
ie. I hope it is - if t'wasn't intended as such, then shame on you!
Wingston75
Holy crap! Wingston! How the hell are you my good man?
Rocky7
I'm good dude, what about yourself? I know I've not been on here much for a good while, but still pop by now and then. You looking forward to sill season and everyone tearing their hair out over us not signing some bloke who the majority of people only know from youtube clips set to sh it emo/eurodance music, for £40m?
Wingston75
I’m sick to the back teeth with the “will he or won’t he” melodrama played out every summer. RvP knows that what he is doing is causing fans the very same distress that we endured with Viera, Henry, Fabregas and others. Whatever RvP wants to do he needs to tell us now so Arsene can get on with either sorting out the replacement or finding additions to the squad. He can’t be waiting to enhance his reputation in the Euros, it can’t get much better than it is, so what is it? Is it just a case of him waiting for the best possible deal to come in? If so then it would be utterly disrespectful to all of us, and whilst being financially understandable (although this is relative bearing in mind that he is already financially secure for life), I would struggle to accept it with any grace. If he wants to leave then he needs to confirm his intention right now, even if he doesn’t know his destination yet, so we can get on with our business. After all, it would show us the appropriate respect having spent most of his Arsenal career in the treatment room. The most damaging thing he could do to Arsenal Football Club is to dither and to milk the situation for his own benefit.
Sir Henry
Agree with that last sentence Sir Henry. We get dicked about EVERY summer by one player or another, why is this in any way shape or form different?
Scotch Eggs Rule
Could he just be negotiating with the club? After the last game of the season he was asked, on his way off the pitch, if he was staying - and he was non-committal. My first thought was 'bugger, he's leaving' - but then I thought, if he says 'yeah, I'm definitely staying', it makes his bargaining position with Arsenal weak.
damiano_tommassi
DT, if his bargaining position would be considered weak after the kind of season he’s had then it might explain why we’re struggling to keep hold of players of his ilk. It would suggest that Arsenal are not valuing players as they should (including overvaluing some players).
Sir Henry
Sir Henry, I mean to say that if you announce before negotiations are complete that 'yeah, I'll definitely stay, no doubt, love the club and never want to leave' - you put yourself in an awkward position, because they club isn't then going to shatter its pay record for you. A bit like going to your pay review at work (if you're lucky enough...) and saying 'I'm really happy, don't want to go anywhere'. There's no incentive to make you the best offer.
damiano_tommassi
we love Mrs Van Persie
Sajit
Don't we just, Sajit.... Let us see you scorn those two women, Robin.
Naijagunner
You know what.....with my upcoming nuptuals I'm not sure if I fully appreciated what that headline actually meant, until now. "Thanks" Rocky........
Scotch Eggs Rule
Hehehehe! Now, to let your missus in on this link so she can see your post ;-)
Naijagunner
It will be very, very insane of a player of van persie's guality to remain in club which is not looking like a team that would win anything in the next ten decades. Grow up van persie, this team has been known to be a 'NEXT SEASON FC' for God knows how long and this will unagueably continue as far as the appalling footballing philosophy at ass na remain unchange. I 'm convinced most ass na fans a hypertensive because you play hypertensive football, van persie should take his leave to a top side that is ready to win trophies. Lest i forget, WE ARE THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS
