Arsenal XI confirm two pre season friendlies

Whilst the first team`s pre season engagements will probably involve plenty of long haul flying and lots of shimmering camera bulbs, it`s the Arsenal Reserves pre season friendly fixtures that I anticipate most eagerly. I can`t really afford to fly to Hong Kong or Nigeria this summer. Not when there`s Guinness to be supped in Dublin and life affirming musical acts to be watched in Lisbon. But the Arsenal XI pre season fixture list always gives me the chance to tick off some more grounds from the 92. Last summer, the first whiff of the new season came in the form of Woking away .

This summer, the Arsenal XI have their first two friendlies signed, sealed and delivered. The annual affair with Borehamwood is set for . Saturday, 21st July k.o. 3pm. The game is an annual agreement as the Hertfordshire club allow use of their ground for Arsenal Ladies matches- an agreement which has been extended for another three years. Yesterday, the Gunners also confirmed a fixture against Stevenage at their Lamex Stadium the following Saturday, 28th July, kickoff 3pm.

This news was music to my ears. The Arsenal XI played at Stevenage last summer too, but I was unable to attend owing to an engagement with PJ Harvey and Portishead at Alexandra Palace. But with no such plans this year, I get another ground closer to the famed 92! I would imagine the friendly game formed part of the agreement that saw Luke Freeman sold to the League 1 side earlier this season. All but confirmed is also an appointment with Southampton at the St. Mary`s Stadium on Saturday, 14th July, a game which emanated from the agreement to sign Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. I`m reliably informed that the first team are currently weighing up an offer to finish their pre season preparations with a game against Barcelona in the Nou Camp in August, all will soon be revealed I guess. In the meantime, the rest of the Arsenal XI schedule will likely be completed in the coming weeks. LD.

Update: Now confirmed Arsenal will take place in the Markus Libeherr Cup on Saturday, 14th July. This will involve two 45 minute friendlies. One against Glasgow Rangers at 6.45pm and another against Southampton at 8pm. Both take place at Southampton's St. Mary's Stadium.

There would be nothing friendly about a game with Barcelona ... for me at least. Set of ****s.

Could lead to an interesting hostage opportunity. Nab Messi, whack him in a little box, take him back to London and tell Barca "We'll send you one of his toes for every day you haven't given us Cesc back on a free transfer." That, or else Arsene and Ivan could take a dump in the Nou Camp khazi and not flush. Whizz all over the seats too. That'd learn em.
Little Dutch
We could send Pascal Cygan (who is obviously a mad scientist) to infiltrate the Barca dressing and genetically alter Cesc's DNA to be that of your common North Londoner, once that it comes out in the press that Fabregas has Arsenal DNA they'll have no choice but to give him back.
Rocky7
lol, a Barcelona-Asrsenal "friendly"

Little Dutch - The second one seems the more mature option LOL

Would love Frimpong to be free for this one so he can launch Xavi into row z. Honestly the way the little ***t went on you'd think he's had more DNA thrown his way than Jenna Jameson.

Hold tight, the Stevenage stadium is called "The LAMEx"? LOL That's a bit unfortunate.
Scotch Eggs Rule
That should be the name of Spud's new dump if it ever gets built.

The Lasagne-dome, The bottle(r) bank, eeerm.....
Scotch Eggs Rule
Xavi and his like need to be well and truly "Frimponged"!

...Totteringham place? Choke(rs) Arena?...
Naijagunner
Excellent, The ChokaCola (tm) Arena is perfect.

ChokaCola Arena lol. As for Xavi, he does need to be frimponged. So do Puyol, Pique and Iniesta. ********s

Cant agree with almost anything Kevin Whitcher says SER. He is like a broken record which has gone stale. A bit like Pyles.

Not sure how a pre-season pounding at Barca is going to help confidence going into the new season.

Delta - I think a lot of what he has said there isn't his opinion rather an observation of what's going on. Semantics? Maybe, but you get what I mean. I think a lot of these people who blog or publish articles are on self serving ego trips, Pyles, Piers et al, but then you get the more down to earth ones like Arseblog and a few others who do it because they seem to enjoy it (amongst other reasons).
