Arsenal To Play F.C. Koln

Arsenal have announced that they will play F.C. Koln in their final pre season friendly before the season kicks off on the weekend of 18th August. Arsenal travel to the RheinEnergie Stadium in Cologne having apparently turned down the chance to play Barcelona that same weekend.

The match will take place on Sunday, 12th August, kickoff 5pm local time. It's unclear if the friendly was part of the deal to take Lukas Podolski from the Rhine to Arsenal but it could mean our new German striker makes his debut in front of his old fans.

Koln were relgated from the Bundesliga last season. Arsenal's trip to Germany punctuates a summer of jetsetting for the club, who will take in Malaysia, China and Nigeria. LD.

Clearly part of the Podolski deal...

Smart move, to drop the game against Barca just before the start of the season.
