Wenger Rules Himself Out Of France Job

One of the most obvious rumours in football is linking Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, with the French national job whenever their team goes tits up … which is often.

After another disappointing tournament for French their current manager, Laurent Blanc has stepped down leaving the position one again vacant.

Not for the first time Le Prof has been linked with the job, and also not for the first time, he`s ruled himself out of the running. Speaking with Telefoot he said,

"There are a lot of names [linked with the job], but me, I will be very busy with Arsenal where my contract still runs for two years."

Not massively surprising given Wenger`s stance of always seeing out his contracts.

On a personally level I`m delighted he has no intentions of leaving Arsenal. Despite my mid-season faux pas where I suggested no might the right time for Wenger to leave, the long term custodian of our club convinced me he is still the right man for the job and the moves he`s made so far this summer has shown he`s ready to make the changes necessary to enable the club to move forward.

You were 100% right to question Wengers' leadership at that particular juncture, it's good to have faith but blind faith is reserved only for the stupid. I'm very happy for Arsene that he's pulled the ship around as we all no doubt are but your concern was not the outcome of one or two bad results, no it was the conclusion after months and months (some would say far longer) of turmoil, poor judgement and completely taking the eye off the ball. I completely stand by your right to therefore ask what was asked, I'm sorry that subsequent time and a much needed change in approach from the club have made you feel embarrassed for doing so. Because if the likes of yourself hadn't showed the concern you had then maybe the positive changes we're starting to see would not have been forthcoming.
