Coleman To Consult Ramsey on Shawcross Call

Wales manager Chris Coleman is to consult Wales captain Aaron Ramsey before deciding whether to call up Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross for the national side. Shawcross is eligible having spent 5 years compulsory education in the country, though he has been called up for an England squad, he has yet to be capped. Shawcross was of course involved in a controversial incident in February 2010 when his tackle resulted in a double break of Ramsey`s leg.

The incident has fomented bad feeling between Arsenal and Stoke. Coleman says he appreciates the sensitivity of any possible inclusion, Ryan is a good player who could strengthen us,' he told The Sun.
'I will have a conversation with Aaron because he's somebody I respect a great deal; he's our captain and an important player. I won't shy away from it because there are issues.'

Quite what value Coleman expects to extract from making this public is anybody`s guess. He`s effectively cornered Ramsey into acquiescing in any case. If and when Ramsey indicates he is ok with Shawcross being selected, most will only believe he has felt obliged to do so due to the public nature of the call. If Aaron says he is uncomfortable with the prospect, with Arsenal set to visit the Britannia in August, ill feeling will once again dominate proceedings.

Yeah, absolutely no reason to go public with this. If he genuinely wanted to consider Rambo's feelings then ask him in a private meeting. Nobody needs to know about the decision. That said, I thought Tony Penis said Shawcross was so talented he was going to be the next big thing for England?

I hope it comes to kneeling down and kissing Aaron's feet for Shawcross. And even after that, I hope Aaron doesn't allow him on the Welsh team. On a serious note though, exactly the opposite is probably going to happen. Ramseys' been cornered completely and if he says no, then the media is sure to jump on it

Coleman should man up to his responsibilities as Manager instead of looking to 'hang' the responsibility for his decisions on young Ramsey. Now, any decision reached on the subject will be attributed to Ramsey; good or bad.

This is ridiculous, Coleman should be taking the decision himself, not putting it on the shoulders of a young man (although he is the captain)
