Arsene Wenger named a 24 man squad for Arsenal's upcoming tour of Malaysia and China. There were some notable omissions, most pointedly the absence of wantaway skipper Robin van Persie who, the official club line says, will stay home to work on his fitness. Lukas Podoslki, Olivier Giroud, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny will keep him company.
Bacary Sagna, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, Henri Lansbury and Emmanuel Frimpong are still injured. Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsey and Park Chu Young are on international duty at the Olympics. Nicklas Bendtner, Andrey Arshavin and Sebastien Squillaci don't travel as all look likely to move. There was room for youngsters Benik Afobe (one of only two strikers travelling), Craig Eastmond, Nico Yennaris, Chuks Aneka, Ignasi Miquel and Kyle Bartley. Thomas Vermaelen will captain the side.
