'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Walcott: 'We Continue To Talk.'

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has told Sky Sports that his advisors are still in talks with Arsenal over a new contract. Walcott has one year to go on his current deal having signed a four year agreement in 2009, but he and his agent broke off talks of an extension last summer. Much of this summer has been dominated by talk over captain Robin van Persie, who confirmed he has no intention of renewing.

As a result, the 22 year old's situation hasn't yielded as many column inches, but when pressed by reporters on the club's summer tour of Asia, Walcott said, 'It was always going to be (a case of) hold back until the end of the Euros. We continue to talk and we`ll just see where it goes.'

When asked about speculation linking him to other clubs, Theo replied, 'Not at all because I didn`t have a clue about any other clubs, anything.

"I`m an honest guy. I like to get on with my job. I`ve got to work on pre-season, I don`t want any distractions.

"Like I say, my agent and the club will continue to talk and when there`s something to know I`ll get involved."

Seems to be some positive news coming today. Say what you want about Walcott but I'd rather him stay with us. I think we'll see a much more central AOC next season so the rumors about the spanish winger makes sense.

Good news that we're in the thick of it. Assuming we offer a 'decent' deal I think he'll stay. Which is only a good thing IMO. I really do think we'd live to regret losing him.

Wow. Look at that on the right for a positive start. Top of the league baby!
Trennon
Theo is very positive about the future from the way I read his comments, almost as if he's never even contemplated not signing. The "see where it goes" comment is a bit un-nerving, but as an Arsenal fan, we're a little paranoid, but overall I think this is excellent news.

I echo Rockys sentiments.
Sajit
We are better with him then without in my opinion.

If the Santi Carzola rumours come to fruition, I am not sure we would prefer Theo higher up in the pecking order for the right wing. Considering his reported wage demands, we may just have to consider the options carefully.
Naijagunner
We have to remember the amount of players we're shedding. Signing Cazorla wouldn't put Theo in much of a compromising position. We've lost Benayoun and will sell Arshavin too. Cazorla would merely be replacing what we've lost already.
