'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Frimpomg Charged By FA For Offensive Tweet

At a time when racism in football has been at the front of people`s minds, players should have been a lot more careful in what they say in public forums, as even the most innocuous comment will be scrutinised.

Despite the high profile cases of Luis Suarez and John Terry, both Rio Ferdinand and our own Emmanuel Frimpong have made (or retweeted) ill-advised comments on the social networking sites.

Frimpong was quite rightly angered by a Tottenham fan tweeting him stating he was praying the Arsenal midfielder would break both his arms and legs, yet despite common sense dictating he should just be ignored and blocked, Frimmers decided instead to respond by calling him "Scum Yid".

A tweet for which he has been charged by the FA for "improper conduct".

An FA statement read: 'Arsenal's Emmanuel Frimpong has been charged under FA Rule E3 for improper conduct in relation to recent comments made on Twitter.

'The allegation is that Frimpong posted comments amounting to improper conduct and/or which brought the game into disrepute, which included a reference to ethnic origin, faith or race.

'The player has until 4pm on 27 July 2012 to respond to the charge.''

Whilst much could be made of the term "yid" as the Tottenham fans have taken to referring to themselves as the "Yid Army", Frimpong has no excuse, and should be held accountable for his actions.
Hopefully it`s something Frimpong can learn from and tone down his Twitter comments somewhat.

******** hilarious. He calls them Yid ****s and gets a fine but the shining light of English football John Terry gets off scott free because they could not decide if calling a black player a chock ice was racist
Armory
So the ******** who said that he break his legs and arms is fine. And Frimpong is charged. ******** joke.
Sajit
You want the FA to charge some keyboard warrior on Twitter?
Rocky7
Twitter is for people who can't STFU even when they are alone.
elbondo
Armory think you're getting mixed up with Rio Ferdinand there. I sincerely hope no usernames post on here with "yid" in or i'll be deeply hurt, likewise if I hear that sung next year.
shewore
Of course not.. I expect them to not to make a big deal of Frimmers tweet
Sajit
They can't just ignore it Saj, just because Spurs fans use it doesn't make it ok. Of course most peope wouldn't bat an eye lid at it, but some might. Frimpong in his priveldged position needs to be aware of this stuff.
Rocky7
But then you are not targeting the root cause are you? Ok this maybe ok.. coz frankly if someone said that to me I wouldnt give a *****.. but if someone said something disgusting about some of my family or something I might get angry.. Point is - FA is targeting the reaction , not the perpetrators
Sajit
The FA have no jurisdiction in this matter, outside of football stadiums they have no responsibility for what we get up to. They do have a responsibility to ensure the players who play in their leauge behave appropriately. If Frimpong is going to react to every piece of scum who gives him abuse then he's going to have very troublesome career.
Rocky7
Careful now. In our brave, new, tolerant world, calling someone names is an imprisonable offence.

Frimpong in the starting line up at the lane please. Agreed this fella is a hot he'd but I love the fire in his belly and he loves this club......heart on sleeve, nothing wrong with that. Hope he can push for the first team soon.
