Hill Wood 'Doesn't Understand' van Persie

Arsenal`s cigar chomping supremo Peter Hill Wood has articulated his bafflement at wantaway striker Robin van Persie`s motives. Presumably whilst sipping on a tot of brandy, the Etonian Gunners chairman told his favourite publication The Daily Star, "'He is a world class player and we do not want to give him away,' said Hill-Wood.

'If he is determined to leave then that is up to him, but giving him away is not on our agenda.

'To be honest I do not understand him at all. I understood Cesc Fabregas wanting to go home to Barcelona last summer. I had sympathy with that.

'But I thought Robin was happy at Arsenal. Especially after the season that he had with us.'

I`m guessing it might have something to do with quite fancying winning a big trophy and earning shedloads of sweet, sexy cash.

The awkward moment when Barca or City dont bid for RvP....

I love PHW' rants. He always appears one brandy away from calling everone a bunch of c*****.

Funny that, he's always struck me as a c**** whose always one brandy away from having a rant.

----I`m guessing it might have something to do with quite fancying winning a big trophy and earning shedloads of sweet, sexy cash---- and £70k per week for the last 3 years isn't?

I's a lot, but £200k a week is quite a lot more. We'd all do the same if we knew we could. My favourite thing is that PHW has come to a point where he *****es people off so much that even the littlest, most insiginificant comment sets people off. Poor old codger doesn't intend to ***** anyone off at all, but always manages it. I admire that for some reason.

RVP - the new adebayor

I think people need to realise that PHW is not just a member of the Arsenal board, he's also a human being, and a relatively old one at that, and it's his birth right as an old man to randomly blart out the first thing that comes into his head and not give one furry crack of a rat's ring piece what anyone thinks about it. More power to him I say, I fully intend to get in on some of that action when I get to be his age.
Rocky7
He does come out with these pretty lame comments though, doesn't he. OT but does anyone else get the feeling that Guardiola to Chavski season after this one is a done deal with all the signings they're making? Can't see these purchases as di Matteo's. If Guardiola does end up there, it will just be awful as I quite like the guy and don't want to hate him.
Gooner_Vin
Much as I try, I can't get annoyed or upset with PHW's comments, even the worst of them. Yes he can embarrass us sometimes. But my pleasure at seeing a guy from the old school walking around blurting stuff out openly & honestly like that in an era where EVERYTHING seems rehearsed and sanitized compensates for the occasional wince his comments cause.

PHW is not made for this politically correct world. He's honest, says whatever is on his mind, and quite often, they come back to bite him in the arse (like the "We dont want his sort around" quote about Kroenke).

I love PHW

Bit disappointing only demolished th Gooners 2-0 but question is do w need RVP or not?

not too bothered as it was just a friendly. nevertheless, i read some reports and most of them highlighted the deficiency of our right back. i think we should get a proper cover for sagna or maybe give yennaris more chance instead of jenkinson
Joe_@**
Both goals came from the Left side.. And Jenkinson was being played out of position
Sajit
Hmm looks like Carl had a big say in both goals.. Not too worried to be honest.
Sajit
The goals got set up from the left side of City which is right of Arsenal. Jenkinson is a Wolves kinda of player. Yennaris and Coquelin were far better when they played. Also Gibbs was horrific with huge space left on his side.
Arseniger
Be interesting to see if city park the bus yet again when we play them in the league.
