Almunia Joins Watford

Ex Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has joined Championship side Watford on a free transfer. The 35 year old Spaniard ended his eight year afiliation with Arsenal this summer as his contract expired and he was released. Almunia endured a mixed time at Arsenal and admitted earlier this year that he had become lazy during the last year of his deal and that he wanted to stay in London.

Watford boss Gianfranco Zola has offered him a team that would not necessitate him moving from his Hertfordshire home. Almunia joins Watford alongside centre half Fitz Hall on a one year deal. The Hornets lost first choice Scott Loach this summer.

1987, FA cup quarter final, feckers had the cheek to beat us 3-1...at home too. Well it may have taken 25 years but revenge is a dish best served with a side dollop of cold turd. Bon appetit!

Good luck to him. I genuinely hope he's a success there.
Trennon
Nice nikolaijns, nice. I guess thats aluminous sumed up in one line a "side dollop of cold turd"

He had better be, Trennon. It is 'trial' 1 year contract, sort of. Being a former Arsenal No.1, you would think Watford will put him on a long term contract.

Jesus jeffin christ how was this guy our no.1 ...? *shakes head slowly*

Best of luck to him. Hope he has a good few seasons before he retires. Truly a mercurial goalie, ranging from decent at the best of times to downright awful at the worst of times.
