Serge Gnabry Signs Professional Terms

Arsenal`s German youth international Serge Gnabry has signed his first professional contract with the club. Gnabry turned 17 a fortnight ago, enabling the club to sign him to a full professional deal and it seems they wasted no time in doing so. Gnabry is a strong, creative midfield player and broke into the Reserve side at the end of last season having impressed in the U-18s.

The club have been trying to keep the hype quiet around Gnabry after he took to the Reserve side comfortably. Gnabry was signed from his hometown club Stuttgart last summer. Gnabry is the prototype Wenger type of player given that he is comfortable playing on the wings or in the number 10 role and even forewent the option of a career in Athletics for football as he was a talented sprinter at school. Gnabry is the descendant of a German mother and Ivorian father. All he needs is a set of plasticine hamstrings and I think he could be the product of Wenger`s personal laboratory.

Gnabry is likely to play for the Arsenal XI at Dartford tomorrow night. The game takes place at Princes Park in Kent, kickoff 7.45pm. Tickets 12 adults, 6 OAPs and students, 2 juniors. A full report of that match will appear here on Thursday.

From what little one has seen of Gnabry in under 18 and reserve level games he is quick, positionally aware, good on the ball and has an eye for a pass. Hope he develops further with the reserve side and plays for the first team in the medium term.

Good player and I'm glad we have him signed on a professional contract. There has defenetly been a huge change in our player purcazse policy. With all these proven internationals coming in young players like Gnabry can be allowed to develop and be intreduced into the main team on a more controlled basis and allowed to learn from the older players.

Creative midfielder? Hmmmm, is it incredibly deluded to hope that this kid can turn out to be a Mesut Ozil mark II only playing for Arsenal?
