Ozyakup Transfer To Besiktas Confirmed

Arsenal have announced that the deal to sell 19 year old Reserve midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup to Besiktas has been completed. Ozyakup, born in Holland, but of Turkish parentage, joined Arsenal as a 15 year old from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar. A regular at Youth Level, Ozyakup broke into the reserve side where he was a regular from 2010.

A passing, creative midfielder, Ozyakup agreed the deal to join Besiktas in principle in late May, but the registration was only confirmed yesterday. Ozzy represented the first team twice, with substitute appearances in last season's League Cup against Shrewsbury and Bolton.

He turns 20 in September and with a breakthrough into the Arsenal side unlikely, Ozzy's decision to go to urkey is likely linked with his decision this year to represent Turkey at international level, having played for Netherlands U-17 side. He moves for an undisclosed fee.

I thought this deal had been long done and dusted; why is the site only just announcing it when the media had this as 'wrapped' about a month ago?
Naijagunner
The Arsenal.com site, that is.

Looking at his twitter feed, he only actually signed the contract yesterday. It was agreed before that, but the ink wasn't applied till yesterday.

Oh. I see. Thanks, LD.

Tha was done months ago. He thanked everyone on twitter then

But he posted a picture yesterday of him signing the contract, and he posted "official signing day" with it. Oguzhan Ozyakup (@Ozyakup) 08/08/2012 22:49 Official signingday pic.twitter.com/4WksB23M

The .com site only just 'confirmed' Carlos Vela's move. Another one I could have sworn was dusted early in the window.
Naijagunner
The Arsenal site only puts up news once the ink is dry on contracts, which is the way it should be.
