Koscielny Pulls Out Of France International

Koscielny Pulls Out Of France International

Laurent Koscielny has been withdrawn from the France squad to face Uruguay in a meaningless friendly ahead of the start to the new Premier League season this Saturday.

As football punters continue to shake their heads at these poorly timed international friendlies, the participants seem to be dropping like flies.

FIFA.com claim the French defender has been sent home from the training camp after test pointed to a problem with the centre back`s calf.

Hopefully this is just a preventative measure and Kos will take to the field on Saturday in our season opener vs Sunderland.

Hopefully this is only a "Ryan Giggs" injury..

While, for some national team managers, it is an opportunity to try out some untested players, for others, it is an ego trip and muscle flexing chance with the players and their clubs. Considering the timing, one would expect national team coaches to be reasonable with these call-ups, in order to be fair to the clubs who pay the players' wages. Nah! I guess that is asking too much.

This is so ridiculous. Obviously these games could easily have been planned for another time. You can't even guarantee no injuries.
