Wenger Cools Drogba Talk

Arsene Wenger has moved to cool rumours that had begun to circulate that he was planning a bid for ex Chelsea striker Didier Drogba. Rumours had begun to gather that the Ivorian striker was to be released by current club Shanghai Shenhua, leaving him as a free agent. But, thus far, nothing concrete seems to have materialised on that score.

When asked about the prospect of signing a man who scored roughly 3,781 goals against Arsenal during his tenure in England, Wenger responded, 'At the moment no. In my opinion he is not free. He has just left England,'

'I don't know about the situation because he came out with a completely different statement.

'You hear he might go to Real Madrid - but then he says 'I am staying in China'. Is it just because he wants to be paid off? I don't know.'

As long as he's in China, he can't hurt us.................

Funny that the Manager's responses didn't suggest he wouldn't have considered signing Drogba. Nothing categorical in his words.

Don't know where this rumour came from, surprised me when I read this.

dont think ex players from our bitter rivals are what we need or want at this point in time. wenger has shown there are viable alternatives in the market (cazzy, poldi and giroud) to build a strong team with.
