Mannone: I Am The One And Only

Many Arsenal fans, myself included, believed that in Wojciech Szczesny we have a potential world class goalkeeper who could tend goal for us for many years to come.

However, after playing through injury and a slight wobble in form we`ve had to turn to another young keeper in Vito Mannone.

The Italian has had an impressive start to the season only conceding one goal in three games, and that was from the penalty spot.

Vito is now looking to become Arsenal`s number one stopper.
Speaking with the club`s official website he said, "I have always been focused, I had two clean sheets in the first two games I played and before the Southampton game [which saw Szczesny return] the boss talked to me and for the first time I felt he understood I was ready to be No 1,"

"It went well [against Montpellier] so I am really focused on gaining the No 1 spot and keeping it. The boss had some nice words for me and he talked to me and said I am ready to be No 1.

"So I just need to show him what I`m doing and hopefully I can get that spot and do my best to help this team win some trophies."

Mannone will have his toughest test so far as we face Manchester City on Sunday, a good performance here would really make it difficult for Arsene to drop him once Chesney is fit again.

I was hoping someone would work out my very subtle link between the article title and the content. Maybe just a little too subtle.

The one and only? I thought you'd confused Vito with Wojciech...

Hehehe!

He is quiet and short and that was his undoing to lose to Szczesny in the first place. This time around he is talking too.

LEts see how he copes this weekend first
