Gibbs Enjoying Attacking Role & Staying Fit

Kieran Gibbs has always been a player with huge potential, but like many others, has been intermittently in and out of the team due to injury.

It`s impossible for a player to achieve the highest standards when they spend much of their time in rehabilitation rather than fine-tuning their skills on the training ground and gaining the valuable experience of time on the field in competitive matches.

However it appears now (touch wood) that Gibbsy has put behind him his spate of injuries and is now enjoying a sustained run in the team to great effect.

Along with his new found fitness, Gibbs also cites his freedom to attack as another reason as to why he`s enjoying a decent start to the season.

"The boss is always telling me, ever since pre-season, to play high and wide and stretch the team, to let the midfielders have more room,' Gibbs told Arsenal Player.

'It`s part of my game as well and I feel I play the game how I think it should be played. That`s probably where that comes from.

"I feel my performances have been positive this season, I`ve kept fit which has been important for me - especially over the last couple of years where I struggled to stay fit."

'I always said if I can get a good run of games under my belt, I can always get stronger and hopefully be more consistent - which is what I`m doing at the minute. I`m happy to be fit and I`m happy to be playing."
