We learned last week that the Arsenal Ladies had won the league. The last match they played against second-placed Birmingham was not on telly today. I had to go to the BBC website to check the result because not even arsenal.com has provided timely updates on this game as they tend to focus on the basic package of match report materials of the men's first team at the weekend. My disappointment with the lack of news aside, however, as a Gooner I am thrilled to have learned that our beloved club has completed a historic double!
The Arsenal Ladies, having already secured the league title last week, travelled to Birmingham City motivated to avoid defeat to become the first team to complete a Women's Super League season unbeaten. Manager Laura Harvey was optimistic but wanted us to focus on performing well and also looking ahead to the Continental Cup Final on Wednesday.

Birmingham scored first to put our girls under pressure. Ellen White equalised not long after the break, with some good efforts stopped by Brum's excellent goalkeeper and ex-Gunner Rebecca Spencer. The top-of-the-table clash ended honours even at 1-1. But the Arsenal Ladies have added more honours to our club today.

Now let us give a round of applause to our Ladies who have made Arsenal the only club that boasts not one, but two Invincible Teams in its illustrious history!
As Harvey said, however, there is a bigger challenge ahead of our girls:
'I haven't spoken about it all year because it was never about that. It was always about winning things. Now we've won the league, it's big to keep the unbeaten run, but it's bigger to win the Continental Cup.'
Many congratulations and very well done girls! Come on you Invincible Ladies!
