Is That The Cue For Sagna's Exit?

Is That The Cue For Sagna's Exit?

You know it`s time to be afraid when an Arsenal player starts to talk about how much he loves the club, it happened with Henry, Fabregas, van Persie, Adebay….. no wait, he said he loves Beyonce ….. and now Bacary Sagna has begun talking about how much he`s loved his time at Arsenal.

And we all know how it ended in the past.

It`s no secret that the full back is considering his Arsenal future. He enters the last year of his contract at the end of the season (that sounds familiar right?) and has spoken publicly regarding the continued sale of our best players.

Now, the French right-back has begun to reminisce about his time as a Gunner, and maybe I`m just being cynical, but it`s starting to feel all a bit "samey".

Speaking with the club`s official website he said "It has been magic. I`ve enjoyed a lot playing for Arsenal and I still love it. Every time I go to the pitch, I just give 100 per cent for the team.

"[The Club] is like my family. My personal family is in France but I feel at home here, I feel happy to come training and I feel relaxed. There are not many big clubs where you feel that confident.

"I think I have progressed a lot - that was my target, to come to such a big club and improve. I am very calm compared to when I came, I used to be a bit stressed before games but now I am totally relaxed because of my team-mates and the manager."

Will Sagna be the next of out the door?

Well, there's nothing to stop one of those big bad money men saying "you know what, we need a top class, proven quality right back - oh look, Arsenal have one, cheers"

It's that first paragraph that does it for me, sounds for all the world identical to what van Persie and Cesc said before they f***ed off.

There's so much of what he said that suggests he wants to stay and loves it here - but saying "I think I have progressed a lot - that was my target, to come to such a big club and improve." just screams 'I'm ready to play for a bigger club' to me.

He'll be 30 before this season ends, 31 before his contract ends. If we're going to cash in and think Jenks will be a top class fullback this season would be the time to do so. Maybe not young enough to command much of a transfer fee or an extended contract elsewhere though so perhaps he'll stick around.

I don't see Jenko ever being top class, love the boy though, and hope he does, but Sagna's different gravy. Maybe his desire will help him more than others, but can't see him being really good. Mind you, i never rated Neville.

It'll be interesting to see how Jenks develops. Can't do him or the team any harm having Sagna here for a season or two longer while he is developing though.

I'd prefer to have Sagna around, he's been top class for us over the years and doesn't look like he's lost anything despite 2 injuries. Personally, I think he will go - last chance of a payday for his agent who will encourage him and I don't think Wenger will stand in his way.

Despite the fact that Sagna is easily better than Jenkinson I'd prefer to have more people like Jenks around. An Arsenal fan, plied his trade in the lower leagues, he knows what it means to be an Arsenal player. He's developed pretty nicely too. Hopefully that will continue.

Worse. It was recently reported Jenks was handed a new, improved 5 years contract. The coincidence (or, is it?) reeks of a club preparing to sell the 1st teamer for the young upstart.

I would rather have Sagna in the club to share the position with Jenks every once in a while. The Manager suggested Sagna may be fatigued after being rushed into playing 4 games in a row, after a long lay off. Got me wondering if Jenkinson will be starting for us in the NLD.
