Wenger Will Not Play Stars

Wenger Will Not Play Stars

Arsene Wenger says there is no temptation for him to select his 'stars` for the Carling Cup final on Sunday.

Wenger has maintained all the way through the competition that he would stick with his policy of playing a combination of youngsters, fringe players with a couple of first team players chucked in.

Despite that, it was thought by many that he would select the likes of Henry and William Gallas. But Wenger has again refuted claims that he will play anyone who has not taken part in the competition this season.

Wenger said: 'People asked me what would be the team three weeks before the game but when you play every three days it is very difficult to say that Henry would not play because Adebayor, Aliadiere and Baptista could be out. You have to put out 11 players who have a chance to win the game.

"But Aliadiere, Adebayor, Baptista and the others are OK so I had not the slightest temptation [to play the stars].

"I have full confidence in these players and I like to do what I say."

I think Le Boss is dead right to stand by his principles. I've got my ticket in one hand and a hip flask in the other - roll on Sunday. Come on you Gunnerettes. The talk of TH14 carrying an injury since the Middlesborough game and him playing on 'because I didn't want to let the team down' is, on the one hand admirable but on the other rather irresponsible. Aliadiere has, in my opinion, been on fire and with Thierry's perfomances below par he would have brought more fire to the attack. This tactic could have avoided us 'pulling the rabbit out of the hat', again, against Blackburn next week and PSV in a couple of weeks. We seem to manage OK without TH in the short term, so why not again, despite the absence of RvP. A couple of weeks off may have ben what the doctor ordered for the whole team.

full credit to le boss fro not succumbing to temptation, as has been said, they have been good enough to get us this far, thus far, so they have earned their right to play... »»Arsene Knows««

I truly think Wenger believes the skill and energy of our youth will do em! Dont forget their 1st team played 90 minutes away in the champions league on wednesday and lost their captain. Most of our starters will have rested and we planned for our captain being out. I think we can do it, COME ON YOU GUNNERS!
