Match Discussion - Liverpool (h)

Hot on the heels of our FA Cup 4th round victory over Brighton, is a home clash with the (formerly) mighty Liverpool.

This Wednesday night game is practically essential (aren`t they all now?) to ensure we create a little space between ourselves and the Reds who have taken advantage of our poor recent form to sneak up behind us when we weren`t looking.

I think we use Liverpool as a stark reminder of what can happen to a club when they fail to invest in the right players and fall out of the Champions League, it`s something we need to avoid yet are perilously close to doing this season.

But can we win? Will resting our star players for the Brighton game be of benefit? Can we get through a match without a fight breaking out between our fans?

Very very big match. @ Rocky7, to my mind, Liverpool are an example of a club who gambled by overpaying for players. Carroll and Henderson could have turned out to be the right players but the cost was too great for the club and the pressure to justify their exorbitant fees too great for the players. If you don't pay more than you can afford, and don't pay more than the player is worth at the time, then even if it doesn't work out, you're still OK.
