Sagna: 'I Am Devoted To My Club'

Sagna: 'I Am Devoted To My Club'

Bacary Sagna has moved to dismiss speculation linking him with a move to Paris Saint Germain. The French full back is out of contract in the summer of 2014, with he and the club yet to find an agreement in contract negotiations.

Sagna has come under fire lately for what many perceive as a dip in form (personally, I think his 'dip in form' exactly coincides with Arsenal basically playing without a right winger, but that's another story I guess), but he was quick to dispel suggestions that his mind maybe elsewhere.

''The January transfer rumours regarding PSG? I am 100 per cent devoted to my club,' Sagna told L'Equipe.

'I am only thinking about defending the colours of Arsenal until the end of my contract.

'The fans are angry with me because they heard about PSG's interest, but I am not responsible for that. I have never had any contact.'

Sounds like he's just letting those he's negotiating with at Arsenal know that he's aware of interest elsewhere.

Indeed, interview given in France too, so probably putting the feelers out as well.

International breaks are always used for this type of thing. Notice that he says that he will defend the colours to the end of his contract, not that he expects a new contract to be sorted soon!

It's all fun and games isn't it. If he sees out his contract then we can have no complaints of him, he's fulfilled his obligation. Great defender, but not irreplacable.

I'd like the club to extend Sagna's contract, he's been excellent so far and can still add value while Jenkinson learns the ropes. However, these are blatant tactics. To be honest, this is the first I've heard of PSGs interest in Sagna, so obviously, this has been engineered somewhat. Just the regular stuff to expect in football these days.

I hope he signs. True, no-one is irreplaceable, but I would love Mr Consistency to be part of this new winning (I hope) squad and to get a testimonial.

I hope Sagna does extend his contract. That statement that he'll be defending the Arsenal colours until the end of his contract doesn't sound good though.

"The fans are angry with me because they heard about PSG's interest...". Well, No Sagna! The fans are probably angry because you have played below par, by your own high standards, for the last few games bar one. Think about that, young man.
