'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We're Not In Chelsea's Shadow

Arsenal youngster Denilson is eyeing a regular starting berth in Arsenal`s midfield.

The 19-year-old Brazilian arrived in the summer for around £3.4Million pounds and it would seem that it`s another case of Wenger waving his magic wand.

It was something of a surprising transfer, even in his native land. He had made only 4 appearances for Sao Paulo when Arsenal singed him but he has proved already that he could easily have been sold for double the fee paid for him.

He has made only a handful of appearances in the red and white shirt so far but he wants that to change soon.

'I am not here to be anyone's stand-in,' Denilson told The Times.

'I am working to achieve my place in the full team here.

'My focus isn't about being on the bench, it's about playing.

'Chelsea have some very good players, but our young players are not in their shadow.

'We're all growing and have what it takes to equal the other team and even get the better of them.'

He is a great player in the making and i would not be suprised if he, Diaby and Cesc were the 3 to pick from next year not Gilberto.

Another example of Wenger signing not only a good player but a good personality. Im not sure whether Denilson is more of a Cesc or a Gilberto because he has traits of both with a little bit of Vieira mixed in! He can tackle, has a good passing range and his positional sense is very good for one so young.

I read somewhere that Denilson was a Steve Rowley (head scout) spot and he urged Arsene to sign him. If he was, Steve deserves a medal! Well done!

devvil, if that's true, he should be given the freedom of the emiaites :) You just know this guy's gonna be a monumental player for us... he's got that same unerring sense of calm and abilty to create time and space that cesc has... »»Arsene Knows««

Im still surprised we got this guy with such little competition, he has all the skills you need to be a good footballer at such a young age :)

Our scout is so good that we can get a great young prospect. Thanks to rowley.

well, apparently liverpool were after him. Given recent comments by Rafa Benitez, it sounds like he wasnt given any encouragement when he expressed a desire to sign the player. Too bad, bay-beh. He's joined THE team to improve him, play him, nurture him, make him. The World star that he will be. »»Arsene Knows««

well..if rafa is looking at denilson, it is just the club policy..the club support wenger policy and here it is,we got a lot of talented player and the academy is also improving.

Pardew is raving about Song on SKY. The conveyor belt just keeps churning them out!

yep and if Charlton stay up he'll be instrumental in this, thus ensuring the club receives the financial boost from stayin in the prem and keepin Pardew in his position, yet next season I bet hes right back into Wenger/ Arsenal bashing mode the little nutsack.
