Wilshere Could Be In Trouble After Sneaky Cig

Wilshere Could Be In Trouble After Sneaky Cig

Jack Wilshere could find himself in a bit of hot water after being pictured having a crafty fag outside a night club this week.

Arsene Wenger said he`ll be having "a word" with the Englishman after photographers snapped him having a smoke.

"I disagree completely with that behaviour. I need to have a chat with him about that." said Arsene

"You don't do what damages your health as a footballer. You damage your reputation when you do that in public."

"I don`t know what happened so I can`t talk about any punishment"

No doubt this will open the age old debate about a person being able to do what they want with their own bodies versus footballers being supposed role models, and both arguments are fine, however being a former smoker myself I know how much of an impact smoking has on your health, which calls into question whether Jack is either a) just a little bit stupid b) not as committed to his career as we first thought or c) the photo has been taken out of context.

Wilshere did take to Twitter to claim "For the record … I don`t smoke" whilst bizarrely posting a picture of Zidane smoking a cigarette.

If he lights up during a game then that has to be taken seriously – even if it is outdoors!

Is that because he's at work? Heh

I'd much rather have Jack adopt a much more mature look. Shall we insist on a pipe? As long as you do the business every week I don't care.

Is this such a big deal in England?

I wouldn't say it's a huge deal, but it seems a little crazy that in this day and age with the level of professionalism there is in sports and the information we have linking smoking to so many deadly diseases that a footballer of Jack's level would smoke.

BLP says that as long as Jack delivers on the field it's ok, but the problem I have that even if Jack were considered one of the best players in the world he could be even better if he didn't smoke.

Seems ludicrous even to an ex-smoker that someone would compromise their career just to put a white stick in their mouth and breathe in some smoke.

It is not easy to kick the habit. Hopefully Wenger's 'public' rebuke would be a first step in helping him reconsider if indeed he is a smoker. I have a bit of sympathy for him given that this is largely a choice issue albeit a potentially costly one at that.

Apologies, trid to do West Brom preview, having problems with the admin site and it keeps timing me out, so there'll be no preview this week.

Rocky, assume you've been listening to Keown. It's a doddle to kick if you haven't got a habit, not having it that he's addicted to oily rags.

This really is BS news. Build them up knock 'em down. They're only kids? these days in the media today every Tom Dick & Harry with a smartphone is a Peter Parker?. Jack will learn from a rocket from Wenger. Don't believe for one minute Jack is a real smoker. Bored now, when's kick off?

OT. Anyone seen Gervinho fly at Roma lately? He seems to be lighting up the side especially as a pivotal part of their counter-attacks. Roma is 3-0 down at home against Roma, in the 1st half with one (2, if you count his being fouled for the penalty Totti scored) assist for Totti. He looks to be getting back his confidence. Still, I don't miss him. Glad he is useful to some other club, though.
