City or Wigan In The Semi-Final - Cheers Wrighty

After eliminating Everton from the FA Cup yesterday Arsenal moved forward into the semi-finals for the first time in a year or two.

After watching both Sheffield United and Hull City following into the last four the draw for the semi-finals have been made.

The Gunners were drawn against Man City As we look to end our 9 year trophy hiatus.

The semis will be played sometime around the 12th April . Or something.

Draw in full:
Arsenal vs Man City / Wigan
Sheffield United vs Hull City

Cup draws this season: Chelsea, Dortmund, Marseille, Napoli, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Liverpool, Everton & Man City.
Just knew this one would have to come out of the draw. Would it have been any better to have played City in the final though?
We would have had to beat them anyway (probably), but it would have been nice to get to the final. However, if we beat them it's going to be a great day out in May :)
Good god. 30 minutes in and Wigan are beating City!!
HT: Manchester City 0-1 Wigan. Come on Wigan!
Obviously City will end up winning this one, but it proves a point that they are not invulnerable. I don't think we should fear them at Wembley

2-0. Can Wigan hold out? Amazing stuff.
yes! hope we dont blow it this time around
***** this *****. Just want to know who is going to be our Birmingham this year.. Wigan or Hull?
Wow Sajit .... taking it to a all time low. May I suggest you take up knitting or something.
Oh come on, surely we have learnt from past experiences / nightmares.. Bad luck .. Refs.. Gifts.. We surely have some way of cocking up for sure.
Hahaha! Quite a few presumptions in the article and early comments. It is Arsenal against the FA cup defending champions, who have just done what we failed to do at the Etihad. Thought a little perspective would help us focus:-)
Surely, it was written in the stars for us. 2014 is the year!
Along with the fine weather in London and Arsenal's win yesterday, that City defeat has just made this a great weekend :)
I don't know......something just ain't right I tells ya!
Don't talk ***** Saj ... I've seen Arsenal win 5 league titles, 5 FA Cups, 1 League Cup and a Cup Winners Cup. From past experiences we're pretty decent at winning trophies. And before you start with "Yeah but they were different Arsenal teams" THIS is a different Arsenal team. We had a decent shot at winning this thing before today, now it's even better!
In all seriousness we need to put in 200% effort in the semi and the final IF we get there. Grab our chance with two ******** hands and not let go. Can't wait for the game!
I'll believe it when I see it.
For all your pessemism I'm not sure you deserve to see it :P
It's probably good that the game is a month away. Wigan must be on a real high.
Agree with that last comment, Amos.
The din about not having won a trophy since eternity is going to get louder as we approach the game. Our critics, whether by design or accident, are going to look to pile all kinds of pressure on the team. Hope this is the year their self-fulfilling prophecy never comes true.
The good thing for us is that our most important players are fairly new to this team (and country) Ozil, Giroud, Cazorla, BFG, The Ox, they won't feel the pressure of having not won anything for Arsenal. This is of great benefit to us!
You are right, Rocky. So far --- since about a year ago --- they've been making a habit of wiggling out of situations that in the past proved to be our undoing.
If we can hold our nerve and give it everything we CAN, to lift the FA Cup would make my YEAR! Great point Amos, about the Semi being a month away. Wigan bound to get a massive bounce from doing the double over City, good thing it's not next week. Come on Arsenal!
Just checking out Wigan's fixtures and they are pushing from promotion and their fixture list in April leading up to and just after the semi-final is brutal. It shouldn't really matter to Arsenal, we should beat them any way, but after 9 years I'll look for all the advantages I can! Where as assuming we don't get past Bayern we will only have one game between the begining of April and the semi final.
I think our recent losses to lower league opposition should serve us well going into the semi (& potentially the final). We need to be focused and professional. We need to go for the throat and kill the game off. We need to remember that Wigan played a blinder. They had done their homework and forced Pellegrini into a triple substitution at 50 mins. This is not a given but it is, of course, a game we can win.

Sajit, mate, I really don't know why you bother. You seem to gain no enjoyment from Arsenal and it sounds like you wont until we win some silver. I assume from that moment on you support will be solely based around fretting that we are on the verge of losing whatever silverware we do win. Please Please Please get a little perspective. We have won more than almost every other team in the PL! We are The Arsenal and we will win many many more trophies. We may lose to whoever, we may be robbed by ***** referees, shocking leg breaks, honey trap a ******** rough beach ball. It matters not! We won the league despite all these things (apart from the beach ball) and we will win again.
