Wenger Rubbishes Balotelli Rumour

With the World Cup in full swing, Wimbledon underway, plenty of stuff going on in real life, I`ve been in the soothing position of not having heard a single word of football`s silly season so far this summer.

The summer transfer window is almost always full of nonsense created by players & agents to manufacture moves to bigger and better things, or by the media simply because they have nothing better to do.

Apparently former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli had been linked with a move to the Gunners as we looked to strengthen in the goal scoring stakes, however the Arsenal manager has moved to label it "pure invention".

"No. No, that`s pure invention. We cannot believe absolutely everything that is on internet or is in newspapers. Sometimes it`s created by agents or by press who needs news. But in that case, it`s not true."

Now, is this good news or bad? Assuming the boss is telling us the truth (as I always do with Arsene). My memories of Balotelli are full of disgrace and bad attitude, with the occasional goal. He's no Henry, is he.

Damiano_t - I am with you. You never know what you are getting with Balottelli.

To be honest, it isn't okie he is going to score much more than 20 goals in the league, a season. I wanted him for the fear factor he would give us; no one would be bullying him or leaving him unattended and all that. But, if the Boss is right (and I suppose he won't go on a National TV to say what he doesn't mean), I would gladly pass, even if that has reduced our search group for a top striker.

Naija, I don't know that he'd cause more fear or be harder to bully than Giroud... During his time at Citeh, he played 54 games and scored 20 goals, over three seasons; so I don't think we can be too confident "he is going to score much more than 20 goals in the league, a season".

Not sure if I am too bothered by this. Balotelli is a bit Suarez-ish. Can score cracking goals but always the potential to do something really, really stupid. The brain of an 8 year old in the body of a man. He can huff up a storm too. He's a risk.

Actually, that part of my first sentence was to read "it isn't like he is going to score more than 20 goals in the league, a season".
