Unofficially Official: Another Arsenal Signing

It`s not quite been made official yet, but it`s unofficially official that Columbian goalkeeper David Ospina is now an Arsenal player.

The shot-stopper impressed greatly during the world cup and the transfer has been mooted for the last week or two, but following Arsene Wenger`s comments yesterday that Ospina he will battle to take Szczesny`s #1 spot away from him, the Nice manager has now confirmed the transfer is 100% done and dusted.

He said 'It is confirmed, yes. At 25 years old it is important for him to experience another championship, so it is a fantastic move for him. I think he can take the No. 1 spot at Arsenal because his qualities are very, very strong. He is very good with his feet, with his arms, and he knows soccer. He is a very, very good player.'

Arsene Wenger really isn`t messing around this year is he?

Thats right
Pikuda Samuel
Sensible addition which means at least one of our current squad will not make the cut for next season. So far this summers spend has reached the average spend for the previous 3 seasons since Kroenke took control and likely to equal the combined spend for the previous 11 seasons. Eventually we'll begin to appreciate that this is the continuation of a process that has been under way for some time.
Amos.
He badly wants European glory before he retires (and not the Spursday Europa type either) Only 3 years left now so only 3 cracks at this left. So without further ado let's spunk the wad of a Puma and make that elusive big eared silver motherhumper happen!

You just knew this would be the result of this friendly what with Henry being all so chummy, dogging the team all through the city of New York. Red Bulls' "Agent Henry" it turned out:-) Nice work-out for the boys but unexpected result.

Three in definitely, one more probably and another one possibly. Really happy about Ospina. @Naijagunner - I was totally expecting us to lose this one, we've got no defence or attack and we were fielding kids and players out of position against a decent team whose season is in full swing. So I'm not bothered by the result - it was a workout and a marketing trip, job done. Some nice positives were Chuba and Jack and Diaby's performances. My only worry is that matches where the result *does* matter will come a little too soon for some of our key players who were missing yesterday.

Officially official. I like it, we are building a highly streamline highly competent squad. Wenger wants Europe and the league!

FunGunner, the result does not worry me either; with half of the team still to join up and this being the first game for most of those who featured, against a fitter MLS side, you always knew it would be hard. It's just that I felt we could still eek out a draw, on the strength of the midfield we paraded; I was looking forward to us keeping the ball for longer and stifling their initiative better. The manager has said the game came too soon for the players and I have to say I agree, seeing as they were and looked fitter.

*eke out a draw*.

back to topic. The Ospina signing is a rather strange one. Unofficial, yet everyone has been speaking about a done deal for about 2 weeks now. First time I have heard the manager speak, as he did, about a player of another club before the clubs have officially announced the move. In fact, the official site only stated that he is "to be signed from Nice". Curious one.

NYArse, glad to see the fans troop out to enjoy the game. Was it just me or were there indeed, more gooners in the stadium than there were Red Bulls' fans? What was the talk about some traffic trouble that prevented more ticket holders to arrive for the game, resulting in a few empty seats, despite the game being sold out?
Naijagunner
I did not realise this keeper was so young! Could be around for years to come. I was very impressed with him in the WC. Wenger is being friggin ruthless in this transfer window ... I love it!
