Gallas Hits Out At Team-Mates

William Galas has hit out at his Arsenal team-mates for their performance during Arsenal's 1-1 draw with PSV, a result that saw Arsenal exit the Champions League..

To say Arsenal were unlucky to go out would be an understatement. The Gunners dominated both legs and could have scored 7 or 8 over the two legs.

The experienced defender says he had already warned his young colleagues about the threat PSV pose from set pieces.

'Our exit was hard to stomach. I think about it a lot,' said Gallas ahead of tomorrow's game with Aston Villa.

'What made it even harder to swallow was I told my team-mates to be extra careful at set-pieces.

'We conceded the goal as the result of a completely stupid and needless foul.

'The ball was in the corner and all we needed to do was to wait. It was down to youthfulness.

Gallas also had a go at Arsenal's attacking players, bemoaning their finishing skills: 'We lacked finishing skills. We created far more chances than PSV yet failed to convert a single one.

'We had to rely on Alex helping us out by scoring an own goal.'

These comments are sure to upset a few people but it'll do the youngsters good to have someone put them in their place. Nice one billy!

Yeah, nice one! Didn't realise Hleb was a kid.

No problem with this. Our experienced players all give out a bit of a yin yang vibe, Gilberto says nice things, Gallas hard truths, Henry a bit of both. Nothing Gallas has said here is untrue, I would be disappointed if our players weren't angry about the last couple of weeks.

He should be taking responsibility for the defending against set pieces - not alone of course, but as a collective, along with the team. That remark disappointed me a bit (Simmy, im not upset, though :) !!

There is truth in Billy's rant, even though he bears a bit of the responsibility. At least by speaking out, hopefully he ruffles a few feathers and draws a response!

There is that to it, he should be saying "we" defended the set pieces horribly. But in truth he probably did and the press are taking license to exacerbate his bad boy image.

Gallas has not right to say this. He has done ***** all for the club since he has come here (yes he's been injured) but untill he contributes to the team, he should keep his mouth shut. The boys have had a difficult time, and are still learning. Why didnt he get his head to the cross that came in.... if he is gonna continue to speak out like this he shouod ***** off and be a pre-madonna somewhere else (chelsea perhaps)

Meh, if he said that I don't care. Why? I agree with him too be honest. We lack the ruthless edge in front of goal and we are immature in certain areas. I'm not angry about it though I love Arsenals style of football I just get upset if they lose but I am happy that they play an attractive style. Good to see an senior player take charge somewhat.
Gunners
If he had something to say like this it would of been better to say it on the training field or after the game not to the press.

Agree with D4NNY T on this one, he may have the right to criticise the strikers for not putting away their chances but criticising the defending on set pieces is a bit rich, i thought that was his department?! Also have to agree he hasnt really done enough for us this season to be criticising others perfomances yet and he was probably the weakest link besides the strikers in the away leg of the PSV game so i think he should keep it to himself, or at the very least out of the media.
