Van Persie Signs New Deal

Robin van Persie has pledged his future to the Gunners by signing a new contract that will keep with the club until 2011

After a quiet start to his Arsenal career, the 22 year old striker suddenly exploded into the first team in spectacular style, becoming a big hit with the Highbury faithful.

With Thierry Henry uncertain of his future, the news will be welcomed by everybody connected with the club, not least Robin himself.

“I am very happy that I have extended my contract to 2011,” he said. “I am very happy too with my team-mates and the boss. In fact a lot of my progress is down to him and his faith in me.

“When the Club phoned me to say we want to offer you a new contract, we only chatted two or three days on the financial stuff. That is not the main thing for me. The main thing is that I am happy here and we are about to go into a fantastic new stadium. That is why I stayed.”
