Arsenal Announce Long-Term Lacazette Deal

Arsenal Announce Long-Term Lacazette Deal

The would he wouldn't he uncertainty surrounding Alexandre Lacazette has been laid to rest as Arsenal have confirmed his arrival on a 'long-term' deal.

A brief statement on the Official Website, which didn't disclose the length of contract or fee involved, read:

'Alexandre Lacazette has agreed to join us on a long-term contract, for an undisclosed fee. He is expected to travel with the tour party to Sydney this weekend and is likely to make his home debut in the Emirates Cup on July 29 or July 30. The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.'

Boss, Arsene Wenger said: 'We are very happy to have Alexandre join our group. He has shown over a number of years that he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher. As well, he has very interesting technical qualities and a strong character. So he is a guy who is a great addition for us, and someone who will help us challenge at the top level this season.'

What we do know is Lacazette has almost certainly arrived with a club record fee paid.

This previous stood at £42.5m paid to Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil, according to the BBC Arsenal are paying £46.5m.

It was also reported by the BBC that Lacazette, capped 11 times by France at international level and scorer of 28 goals for Lyon last season, has signed a five year contract and his transfer fee could eventually rise to as much as £52.6m with add-ons.

Well, I think we can say this is a 'top quality' arrival as promised - now for others and contract agreements with the rebels.
