'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Optomistic Gooners Say 'Third'

In the latest Vital Arsenal poll, we asked were you thought the mighty Gunners would finish in the league.

Rather surprisingly a mammoth 45% of readers thought we could pip Liverpool into third place despite only winning one of our last four.

However with Liverpool in the semi final's of the Champions League it would only take one slip and third would be in our hands.

A combined total of 19% (the Spurs contingent on the site) thought we would start next season without Champions League football.

Yeah right.

Poll result in full:

Where Will Arsenal Finish This Season?

*Third 45%
*Fourth 36%
*Fifth 10%
*Sixth 5%
*You've gotta be kidding me!

Our next poll asks which Arsenal player has not been up to standard this season?

and we will!!!

I think we will finish third, we are a better team than Liverpool we proved that three times this year.
gunnerb
THIRD! Well at least you're improving :-)
merlin
why is hleb not on the poll for who hasnt been up to standard? baptista is in his first year of english football, hleb is in his 2nd - hardly seems fair to include one and not the other!
bootoo
I fail to see the significance of finishing third instead of fourth as both places qualify for the CL.
JohnDoe
sorry, but this is a really crap poll for too many reason to mention
fran merida
but we could pos. finish third,if we win most of our games and pool do slip up
fran merida
merlin, how are the cup final sales going? I hope you've been saving up your evening standard vouchers, I here they're gonna pay Chelsea fans to take them.
Little Dutch
how can baptista not live up to his standard, he hasnt ever been here before. he had no standard. Henry hasnt been himself but that not his fault. Its got to be Senderos. He was so good last year but not this year at all.

the last poll was started before our sad loss to west ham and our dull performance against newcastle, so the optimism might have come before those two games ...
yazz
No mention of Freddie in the poll. I've been disappointed with him, in the past you'd look at the lineup and you'd point to Ljungberg as a potential game winner. Sadly, I can't say that no more :(

JohnDoe. The significance of finishing third is we do not have to play qualifying games. This season, as 4th pace finishers, we had to play 2 legs wirth Dinamo Zagreb before the tournament proper. Although he has lost some of his pace I still think Freddy is the spirit of Arsenal; a spirit that others would do well to copy!
Emkay
Emkay you do have to play qualifying games if you come third, sorry mate :(

You greedy ********s 8-) Fourth is as cool as a cool thing based on our up and down recent form. Merlin, second in the league is still losing me old scrote, just the same as third or fourth! Just remember, if you've got a problem, and if no one else can help (to fill your FA cup Semi Final Allocation), maybe you could call, Dial-A-Fan! Just think, if you were based in Brazil, k-chelski and his mates would fill your ground. Now theres an idea!
flv
I have to say Baptista as i thought he was going to really add something to the team but he hasn't.
AB_Arsenal
merlin, cant say the same abt chelsea eh. 1st last year, 2nd this year, next year - who knows?
prits
3rd and with good football, which is better than the team that will finish 2nd. united deserve to win it due to the consistent performances and good football.. if chelski didn't have drogba they wouldn't be anywhere near the top 4, and they don't play the football you want to pay and see, which is why so many tickets go unsold.
PUREGOLD
PG, that is one heck of a post. If we didn't have Drogba we wouldn't be anything! Wow, you mean if a team doesn't have their 30 goal scorer they would be affected? You mean Arsenal miss a healthy Henry? Man, you should be on the telly. You just stay happy to come in 3rd with zero silverware, because you are going to have to get used to it!
