Why is the Grove sooooooooooo quiet.
Youngest in Charge
Because w@nkers like Trevor Francis keep making idiotic comments!
Rocky7
Obviously that's not entirely true, however it angers me that they make such a big deal out of it saying "you can hear a pin drop" when I can quite clearly hear singing. Francis then goes on to say that Highbury was called the Highbury Library for years and then said that we've only been quiet because we haven't won anything for two years. The man is a bell end.
Rocky7
Hleb just cannot score. Tomas is having a great game. Jens is a bit iffy and Trevor Francis is a *******.
themadafrican
Another blinding glimpse of the obvious from Francis. If Walcott was fit, I am sure he would be on the field. Er, I suppose that would also mean Henry, VP. Dum as*. Maybe he should be talking about Andy Linagan.
themadafrican
Good to see the Beast finally get that monkey off his back! Tomas and Cesc are on fire too! Going out with a big bang kids! Third for now.
SUX2BU
Where were you guys watching the game??? I never knew it was on TV.
Gooner_Vin
Ade should have scored today. LOL sendros playing mid, AMAZING should play there more.
Youngest in Charge
It was on ESPN from the tv programs where I watched it. The commentators were a bit annoying, Highbury Library!, we were loud and its a weekday fixture and he saying about 87 short. Anyway great win! Nice play which was beautifull to watch; great to see.
gunner-minesh
GV! http://myp2p.eu/index.htm will give you links to almost any football (and cricket WC if you are interested :)). I am in US (have no "soccer" channels :) on the cable) but i havent missed a game because of unavailability
Spartan Gooner
im in the us too, but i have every game on sat. They dont have all the EPL games broadcasted in england? that really surprises me. by the way whad up with all the empty seats at the grove!!!
gunnerkid107
Yeah, could see empty spaces from the live broadcast I got here in Malaysia...Nevertheless, a great win and a morale booster ahead against spurs...Fab to score for a third time running??? :)
jess_farenesh
The empty seats will be the season ticket holders who failed to show for what ever reason (more than likely that it was a midweek game)
Rocky7
Hey its rare, but its end of season, mid week game etc, must be reasons, still sounded loud as usual though.
gunner-minesh
another 3 pts in the bag. 4th is to be tied up at the Lane. Great play at times, vintage Arsenal. And Cesc? He seems to be firing on all cillinders. Fancy him to score a few more before the end of the season.
G4L
and let me add to what has been said: Trevor Francis is a kunt
G4L
59000 fans tonite,i thought there wouldve been a few less than that, the atmos wasnt too bad either,it got a little quiet before half time, but it did pick up
fran merida
cesc and thomas were superb and diaby played very well until taken off. hleb needs shooting and baptista apart from his goal seems to have the touch of a rapist. we do seem to be over playing the ball, when shooting earlier could be better, the amount of times the ball was played back or to another player when we had opportunites ! when we went 2-1 the crowd came to life in a loud fashion... but bloody hell, the amount of people leaving 5-10 minutes before end is a disgrace ! i still had people coming IN 10 minutes after the kick off too... come on surely people know how long it takes to get to a game and how much time is needed by now.. whats going on ffs !
PUREGOLD
Was a good team selection, shame Denilson wasnt given longer, he looked on fire at times.
gunnerb
I went mad on that Cesc volley. sweet merciful.
Phantom of the Grove
A good 3 points in the bag. Cesc and Rosicky had a good game, and if anyone missed Rosicky's 1st goal against Bolton, all they needed to do was tune in last night :). I thought Hleb had a decent game, and Eboue was good. None of his theatrics, though his defensive positioning left a little to be desired at times. Lehmann had a bit of an off-day, I thought - not too bad, not very good either. I was a little disappointed with the last 20 mins of the 1st half, coz we relaxed a little bit and it was a soft goal to give away. But all in all, good day, and I am quite satisfied with the display.
prits
Good result and a decent performance, nice to see the goals coming from those 3 players. I have to agree with PG about the late comers, early leavers and those who come back 10 minutes late at half time. Half time kills me, the whole of club level empties like a sp*rs players bowels as soon as the whistle blows, is there a free beer and strip show going on up there? what could be more important than getting back on time to support your team? I understand a certain amount of people will have to leave early (connecting trains etc) but you cannot tell me that all the people that leave have these problems, they just cant be bothered to support the team properly. I think a lot of the fans we have on here are far better supporters, waking up at all times to catch 90 minutes of their football team, contributing in our banter against other clubs supporting the club through other avenues because they live around the globe.
iceman10
I thought our support was thoroughly ***** last night, I thought the players were playing their own fans nmore than they were playing City in the second half. We were brilliant keeping the ball on the ground with quick passing. Then as soon as it got to 1-1, the crowd got straight on the team's back and they started panicking and hoofing it. This was emphasised by Hleb who was absolutely awesome until the equaliser and given our brainless fans, Hleb is scapegoat of the month, he got barracked and lost his confidence. As soon as it went to 2-1, people left him alone and he was on fire again. Rosicky was clearly motm, but Eboue was awful and Jens looked shaky. Home games are really starting to depress me.
Little Dutch
Oh and on early leavers, we ALL have problems with traffic and trains etc. Nobody likes sitting in a queue at the Blackwall Tunnel or Finsbury Park station, but if you cannot handle it, don't ******** go. I echo iceman's sentiments, people who get up at 3am to watch these games are much better supporters than the ones who think queuing for the tube will lead to the apocalypse.
Little Dutch
Iceman; I'm not sure about the strippers but they certainly get free beer at club level. I on't thinkwe over played at all, I think weplayed just the right amount. The theory of over play is a misnomer, it dosn't happen. Passing too many time is not the reason we haven't scored many goals of late, it's purely down to poor finishing. People in the media are eating up this "they are wonderful to watch but don't shoot enough" whe it's *********. Francis last night says Rosicky needs to shoot more often, I'm sorry but I see tommy having a dig all the time, against all teams aside from liverpool and bolton away, we have had many many shots. The only player who needs to shoot more is Hleb. But also, he seems to have had a monkey on his back after the crowd screams "SHHOOOOOT" everytime we get within 40 yards of goal, leading to Hleb making poor decisions and trying to shoot through a crowd of players.
Rocky7
Precisely, it happened last night, he was at a tight angle, on his left foot and would have been much better laying it off, but with everyone screaming at him, he hit an impossible shot which flew well wide. Basically, we're getting to a stage where our fans are having an adverse affect on our team.
Little Dutch
Couldn't agree more. It's only a matter of time before people like Hleb starting questioning what they are doing at Arsenal. While players like Ljungberg have their names sang and are applauding at every opportunity for doing precisly sod all!
Rocky7
To be honest i think the fans are justified in getting annoyed at Hleb. I dont think he contributes enough to the team. Dont get me wrong i dont condone booing at all, but i also dont think that any player is above criticism. The truly graet players dont let the crowd decide when they shoot or not. Do you think TH listens to the crowd when deciding what hes going to do?
Genuine Pace
LD your right, i don't get this 6-10 min leaving early crowd, so you gain 6 mins big deal ! i left on the full whistle and when we got to the sobell centre some muppet forgot to pay and caused a huge traffic jam in the car park, still we sat there for a fustrating hooting of the horn 10 mins and we still got away up the hornsey road fairly smoothly ! it really annoys me, another thing i witnessed was a women throughout the second half up and down the stays, backwards and forward carrying hot dogs pizza slices etc etc, like she was buying for the whole bloody row ! infact there were a few of them like that, can't they do it before the game, half time ? whats a matter with people !
PUREGOLD
It's really getting disheartening reading some of the postings here and also witnessing first hand what goes on at the Emirates with some of our so called 'fans'. What is wrong with these people?! It just isn't in Hleb's game to be a goalscorer; so what?? Some players are there for their creativeness and everyone can suffer from a lack of confidence. Look at Shevchenko. Look how useless Drogba looked last season. I recall our fans getting on the back of Gilberto a few seasons ago and now they all love him. As for the going home early, that is ridiculous. It makes you question how many true fans we have got. Maybe the the reallocation of empty season tickets next season will bring in more real fans. (apologies for the long rant!)
Gooner_Vin
There's another point I just wanted to add, even though it has probably been mentioned in the past. Football is a team game. We win collectivelly and we lose collectivelly. You cannot blame individual players for our failings. Even I've been thinking that we need to sign players but I now I'm not sure. Our team is pretty much there; there's just been a collective failure to be ruthless and efficient with scoring goals and winning games. Unless we improve this, all that another player will add is more of the same I reckon.
Gooner_Vin
I hope that doesnt happen, Rocky. I'm a fan of Hleb, and apart from this rough patch lately, he has been very good for us. But if you trawl through some blogs online, you will find a fair section of 'arsenal fans' who are fairly negative, and some even calling for Wenger's head. People like that will obviously barrack Hleb !! *****es me off !!
prits
the only thing that disappoints me is this season im sitting next to a bunch of wa**ers who look at me funny when i sing for my own team. what a bunch of *******s.they are bloody quick to have a moan though.
