Wenger Set For Baptista Talks

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he is to meet with Julio Baptista's agent next week to discuss the player's future.

Baptist's Arsenal future has been cast into doubt of late as the striker struggles to find some form.

Wenger is also set for talks with Real Madrid over the fee of any potential transfer.

The fact that Wenger is to meet Baptista's agent would suggest that he intends to sign him. Despite that the Arsenal manager insists that no decision has been made.

'Nothing is decided," said Arsčne Wenger at his pre-match press conference. "I will meet his agents next week and Real Madrid a bit later.

"I won't tell you now what I will say to his agents. If I do that now I can cancel the meeting!

'I can talk to the player [of course] but whether he stays or goes I need to talk to the agent. If he stays we talk about what price if he goes then we talk about how do we do it.'

Wenger also confirmed that Reyes is unlikely to return to Arsenal in the summer.

"Reyes coming back can happen," said Wenger. "I have nothing against that but Reyes does not want to come back to English football, he prefers to stay in Spain.'

Blue is the colour
Lol, I hope the Beast stays with Arsenal. I want to see him ajust to the premiership and show his fangs.
Gunners
Same here... this beast is too good to be write-off!! Stay, I say, and make the naysayers pay!
Andy-bayor
Baps can stay, just dont play ever again. I dont mind him in the carling cup or as last choice striker behing Freddie Ljungberg (lol!) but not as this skilful, creative attacking midfielder he thinks he is. Fekin idiot!
Goofle
Personally I'd like to see him taken on loan again till January, if he does well then sign him in January, if not send him back to Madrid.
simmy8_2000
I like the guy, I hope he stays because he will be a hit.
gunnerb
get him out, he needs to go.
thenry009
the beast is going back to Spain :-)
merlin

springy
this is one of the better news i heard so far... give beast some time and he'll come good.. shevchenko who came in for almost 3 times the price is worse then our beast.. watch out for the beast this weekend.
McGooner
just let the lad find a first touch and then we're in business...hopefully :(
ahops101
Maybe the poor lad has been suffering from Mourinho vision eh! Maybe to Baps the goal looks bigger than it is, just like to Mourinho an 18 yard box becomes a 25 yard box. I just hope that it doesn't get much worse for old Moron, else he'll be expecting a penalty everytime a team kicks off!
flv
just needs a bit longer to settle...will come good for you guys i reckon.........
ernshaw
it wasnt a penalty anyway...
Goofle
needs to go back to madrid and reyes can stay there too
ajwb
I think Wenger is pulling a fast one here, the player is staying. There would be no reason what so ever to consulte his agent should he be going back, he's on loan and if Wenger didn't want to keep then he would speak to the Beast and let him know he is just going to let his contract run out. I think if the Beast goes back it will purely be because they couldnt agree on a personal financial package for Julio.

My thoughts exactly Rocky. Personally I'm still torn as to weather or not I think we should sign him but if Wenger think's he's good enough that's good enough for me. There's no doubt he is a world class player, he just hasn't showed it this season. That said, Brazillians are notorious for taking a long time to settle in England.
simmy8_2000
i'm with you two blokes, if le gaffeur thinks he's up to it, i'll gladly settle for his opinion - he sees the guy day in, day out. And he does, to be fair to him, keep trying, even when things don't run for him. Let's hope that his more-midd-than-hit season will see his valuation plummet, so that we can get him at a better rate than madrid will no doubt try and flog him for... »»Arsene Knows««

That said simmy, i am very excited with the England x Brazil game. It's a game i've been wishing for ages. How do you think the game will go?
k_chelski
The Beast scored!!!!!!!
Gunners
Granted, he scored. But he didn't really do much else. I think we have dominated teams better w the 4-5-1. Lucky for us fulham suck and we were able to win.
thenry009
the beast should stay
Zimbolicious
K_Chelski - I'm excited about that game too. It will be interesting to see Brazil will tear England to bits.
