Arsenal Complete Diaby Signing

Arsenal today completed the signing of French Under 19 powerhouse, Abou Diaby.

The deal was done today with Diaby joining the Gunners for an undisclosed fee.

The signing will lift the Arsenal fans who have being praying for a signing, and what will make it more satisfying is the fact that Wenger stole the player from under the noses of an interested Chelsea.

Arsene also believe's Diaby will be ready to play in the first team within weeks.

“I feel he will be ready [for the first team] with a few weeks' training. He is 19 at the moment. He will be 20 in 2006. He is young but he can make quick progress and I feel he is ready for the fight.

“Of course he has to develop but there is a real, real potential there. He can be a complete midfielder.”

“People compare Diaby with Patrick Vieira a little bit because he has a similar stature,”

“He is a little bit of a different player but Patrick is a good role model for him. To model himself on Patrick would be a good idea in my opinion because he has that same kind of stature and strength.'

'I think a few clubs went in for him before us in June when he came back from the European Championship, we came in only lately because we saw that he doesn't play and that there was an opportunity for Auxerre to release him.'
