Wenger Confirms Fabianski Deal

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal will sign Polish international 'keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Vital Arsenal brought you the news of the signing 2 days ago. I suppose it's taken him a while to catch up with your writer. ;)

At the time I gave a few facts that I knew of regarding Lukazs but I have since learned one very interesting fact.

While speaking to our esteemed leader about the signing he informed me that Fabianski is held in a higher regard than Igor Akinfeev in many Eastern European country.

Before Mr. Mustchin informed me of that I had thought Akinfeev was regarded as THE biggest goalkeeping prospect in europe. I think that's a massive tribute to Fabianski's ability.

Anyway, this is what Wenger had to say: "That will be done.

"He will be our new goalkeeper. He will join us next year, be in the squad and compete for a position.

"He is one for the future. We have identified him as having all the qualities to challenge here and be one of the future great goalkeepers for Arsenal."

Wenger wouldn't be drawn into discussing the role Lukazs will play next season though: "We will assess him when he joins the squad to see how mature he is," the Frenchman added.

"We have to be open-minded, it is down to performances."
