Wenger Drops Walcott Hint

Arsene Wenger dropped a clanger yesterday that gave Arsenal fans a massive clue that Theo Walcott is almost a gooner.

At a press conference, Wenger was speaking, when he made a statement that he had signed three new players!

Wenger quickly corrected himself 'Sorry, two!' Then Wenger added with a cheeky grin on his face: 'Sorry, two-and-a-half.'

Wenger has been walking around recently looking like the cat who got the cream, it's been a long time since we saw Wenger with a permanent smile on his face, which was further etched on after the 7-0 battering of Boro yesterday.

Southampton boss George Burley also gave his take on the Walcott situation.

'I don't know what will happen tomorrow,' said Burley.

'I won't guarantee anything, but as far as I'm aware, nothing has changed. We're planning ahead with Theo at the club.

'He's done very well for us and we want to keep him for as long as possible.

'He's a fantastic talent. When you've got a talent like that there is always going to be speculation but the kid handles it well - he's experienced it for the past six months.'

It is reported the deal would have been tied up on Friday if Southampton chairman, Rupert Lowe, hadn't been out shooting game.
