Wenger Drops Malouda Hint

Arsene Wenger has dropped a slight hint that he is interested in signing France and Lyon winger Florent Malouda.

Arsenal had been linked with former Marseille winger Franck Ribery, but he has completed a £17Million move to German outfit Bayern Munich. Ironically, Ribery said he wanted to be playing Champions League football next season, giving that as his original reason for leaving Marseille, something that he will not get in Munich next season. Nothing to do with the money then?

According to many-a-paper, Wenger has now turned his attentions to Malouda, after his countryman admitted that he was leaving Lyon this summer.

Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the wide-man, but Wenger hinted in an interview with The News of the world that he may be interested in the player.

'We will bring in new people only if they are exceptional players,' Said Wenger in his interview.

He was then asked: 'Stars like Lyon's highly-rated France midfielder Florent Malouda?'

A grinning Wenger replied: 'Excuse me but this is a secret... I couldn't possibly talk about it with a newspaper.'

That ever-cheeky grin that Le Boss displays when he has something up his sleeve is a big hint that he is up to something. whether he is interested in Malouda, or just hinting to him as a decoy remains to be seen.
