Laporta: Wenger's Not For Barca
During the press confrence which saw Thierry Henry complete his £16.1Million move from Arsenal to Barcelona, Arsene Wenger's name popped up.
A journalist asked if Wenger would be sitting next to Barcelona presidnet, Joan Laporta.
Laporta replied: "Frank Rijkaard is the best coach that Barca have," said Laporta.
"Respecting Arsene Wenger as a person and a coach, he is a really good coach, but in our opinion, and I hope the opinion of our players, Frank is the best."
So there's the back pages of half a dozen papers ruined for tomorrow. I think, no, I'm certain that if Laporta wanted Wenger at Barca, he would have said so.
He's not a man to beat around the bush, if he wants something then he makes no secret of it.
