Hill-Wood Happy/ More Signings?

I don't think a single Arsenal fan could have predicted the signing of Eduardo Da Silva frome Dinamo Zagreb yesterday.

But the fact he's unheard of in England is not a problem for most Arsenal fans, even though they were hoping for a massive signing.

His goal record, albeit it in a league with a much lower standard than the Premiership, speaks for it's self.

As I do, Peter Hill-Wood has faith in Arsene Wenger, and believes that the manager may have pulled off another master stroke. Speaking to The Daily Star The Arsenal Chairman said: 'He's a very highly-regarded player and he's been bought to score goals.

'Arsene is full of surprises and he knows what he's doing. This player is certainly better than some of the forwards we've been linked with.
(anyone think he may be hinting at his best mate Anelka there?)

Hill-Wood went on to say that although he hopes for more goals from midfield next season, he believes that Da Silva can bring those sometimes illusive goals to the team.

'Scoring goals was a bit of a problem last season but hopefully we'll also have a few more from midfield.

'Arsene has unearthed a few gems before with players who have not been particularly well-known and we hope it continues.'

Then Peter came out with my favrouite quote of the summer: 'As always with Arsene there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes.' Sounds like a hint that more singings may be imminent.

To quote Mr Burns... 'Eeeeeexcellent.'

Da silva is definitely what we have been missing for a season or two, the approach play has been fantastic, but as we all know with little end product (although we did score 3rd highest goals!!) It may be a step up, but often its how the team plays and integrates you, he'll fit in nicely I think and I wager he'll score a minimum of 18-22 goals next season. As stated Arsene likes to unearth little gems. All we need know for definite is an out and out winger, then I'd be happy.
Harry671
We are looking forward to those things happening behind the scenes
Zimbolicious
That's a bold bet Harry! I'd say around 15 goals would be a good return for him next season, with it being his first in the Premierhsip and all. I'd be delighted if he could score 20+ goals next season though.
simmy8_2000
Yep another master stroke from AW
afghenry
If he stays in the box and put away the chances we creat then I wouldnt be surprised if he scores 20 next season
afghenry
seem to be having a few issues posting on here so if my message appears more than once i apologise!
Labwam
Simmy8 I can see why you think that and with most new players in other clubs it would be a tall order, but I am thinking of our general play and how many chances we create as a team, I was actually been a tad conservative allowing for his first season anyway. Any less than 18 and I'd be very surprised.
Harry671
Wenger has always liked to have a few left footers like Da Silva in the team and I think it works well, gives a different dimension. I definitely think Fabregas can score 10 goals next season, as can Rosicky. I don't see Hleb improving much but I don't care because I think he is great for us in our build up play anyway. The only thing I'm gutted about is that, given Wenger's prowess in spotting young talent, why couldn't we have got Messi or Kaka! Let's hope he finds the next one...
Gooner_Vin
My heart says 18 too, because like Harry, I agree he will integrate with our squad. While I am optimistic, and I don't want to rain on the parade here, but I feel the need to see him play for a few weeks before I can dispel the little Kezman-style doubts in the back of my mind.
Andy-bayor
It does indeed sound hopeful. I don't expect us to sign anyone else other than Sagna though. Let's hope I'm proved wrong!!
adamski243
Harry, I hope you're right, perhaps you know more about him than I do, or maybe I'm just being a little pesimistic. You could be spot on. I don't mean or want to draw any comparisons, but Henry did get 26 goals in his first season with us, so it's not impossible.
simmy8_2000
When a club makes signings it is obvious that you either make proven signings for larger amounts, or pay less & take a chance on quality in other leagues or younger players. It appears Wenger has done the latter & paid less but taken a calculated chance, which I'm sure most gooners can live with. When you see Liverpool spending 26.5 million on Torres you know the football world has gone mad. Don't get me wrong I have watched Torres a lot & he is a very good player, but certainly not worth that amount. He has a lot of stuff to work on & I think the biggest gamble is that Fernando will struggle to adapt in England. I can see him going the same way as reyes, he never truly wanted to leave Athletico & that will always play on his mind. Liverpool fans will be excited (as most people would) but I think this move for them will backfire. Tevez for a very similar price would've been a much smarter move!!
Ashburton Gooner
I think we're signing two south american youngsters. Salamanca claimed that a couple of months ago, because they are hoping to have them on loan next season. Apparently the deals were all but done, however arsenal/arsene was due to meet them after either the copa america or the u20 world youth cup, I can't remember which it was, but both are going on now. Its probably the u20 tournament.
Ashburton Gooner
yeah you've definitely signed the next Dimitar Berbatov here haven't you boys. You feckin cacks
bullers
lol how many league goals did berby get last season bullers? even RVP scored as many or more than last year after missing half the season..
luckys_10
Who even mentioned Barbie-tov? No one, that's who. Which leads me to my next question...why post that?
simmy8_2000
Add to that the 25 mil salary he wil get over 4 seasons... it is crazy
G4L
torres transfer money that is
G4L
Where did you hear about that AG? Is there any quotes? If so I'll do an article on it.
simmy8_2000
G4L, exactly. If the figure of 8 million for Eduardo is true, then you have to say its an excellent deal for us. We will save 6 million over the next year on Henry's wages which basically covers this deal, without even touching the Henry cash. I don't know what Da Silva will earn but it wont be anything like our top earners anyway........90K a week for Torres, who has actually won nothing & proved nothing is quite frankly astounding. What motivation is there for him to prove anything when he is paid like that for basically being 'a name'!!
Ashburton Gooner
blimey. you lot get very excited about a meaningless quote that could possibly be vaguely interpreted as "it's not totally impossible we'll sign another player or 2". lol
wayne king
simmy8, there was quotes from Salamanca, but I doubt I'll be able to find them now, as it was a couple of months back. It was the president of the club, talking about Carlos Vela & the fact he had to leave them. He then went on to say, that arsenal are very close to a couple of south american players that would be joining us this summer & that he was hopeful of getting them on loan!!
Ashburton Gooner
According to the ever-reliable Sun (yeah, right!) Dudu will earn £28K a week.
simmy8_2000
Cheers AG, I'll have a look about for them.
simmy8_2000
he's paid like that for being Athletico madrid's player of the year EVERY year, and scoring in almost half the games he's played in arguably one of the most competitive leagues in the world, you retard! By the way he already gets paid that much where he is!
wayne king
Cut out the insults, they wont be tolerated on this site. And Torres hasn't scored in half his games for Atletico, he has 80 odd goals in over 200 games.
simmy8_2000
The thing is, strikers from la liga always have a hard time fitting in over here, Reyes, Morientes and Baptista flourished over there, but not over here. And wayne king, Torres is to Atletico what Berbatov is to you. i.e the ONLY good player they have.
Little Dutch
I didn't know wayne king was a spuds fan, but yet again his comment shows up just why the spuds supporters are so hated throughout europe & why they were attacked. With every other club its the minority of fans which cause trouble, the majority go for the games themselves, with spuds its the other way around, its the majority that want trouble, then, when they get it as in seville, they start crying & start blaming everyone else!!
Ashburton Gooner
Good points about salaries! The hyperventilating Spuds should remember that Bent will cost £1m more in wages per year than Eduardo. Also, if Torres' wages are £3m more each year (than Eduardo), on top of the £27m transfer you really have to ask yourself - which of these 3 deals is the best 'gamble' given what we know today?
Andy-bayor
Hit the nail on the head Andy, all signings are educated gambles (some more then others) and despite all the speculation no one actually knows which will come off until next seasons climax
Phartman87
...or in Spuds case, anti-climax lol!
Andy-bayor
Da silva! Da silva! I am stil amazd. 1ce more le boss has shot from the hip. Alk dat is left is a cube of SAGNA And apinch of Quaresma and d title is ours
gunnerchi
du du du du, da da da da, is all i want to say to you!

Wingston75
How many games has Fernando Torres played in the champions league and UEFA cup Wayne queen?
iceman10
What a cretinous moronic comment made by the imbecile known as Ashburton Gooner. When the British police, say that the Spurs fan sdid nothing to deserve being attacked, when the Spurs stewards receive awards usually not given to civilians for defending women, children and the disabled from being attacked by the Spanish police, and when the British police said the Spurs fans REACTED only under the severest of assaults from the Spanish police, can this piece of pond life even remotely back up his moronic remarks? Even Seville city officials said the Spurs fan were well behaved in the city before and after the game. Idiot.
kernowboy
kernowboy, judging by your vitriolic and personally insulting comments towards anyone with the temerity to, gulp, have an opinion different from yours, I'd say AG got it about right, you appear to encapsulate the temperament of the typical Spurs fan. It's funny how every time I've been to Spain and Italy with Arsenal I've never seen a chair thrown in anger, despite the police being over zealous. Yet every time I've been to white hart lane I've seen/ encountered countless acts of indiscriminate violence. Only two days ago you variously referred to me as "pathetic, gimp, moron, narcissistic and self indulgent" because I left a one line post saying you got ripped off for Darren Bent. Face it, you have a big element of violent idiots in the Spurs ranks, every team has them, but Spurs more than most.
Little Dutch
Little Dutch ... when someone decides to have a pathetic go with no basis in truth and containing libellous and defamatory remarks against a group of people who the British authorities say were completely innocent, it comes as no surprise that you step into to defend them ..... are you saying that it is right and correct for men, covered in body armour and wielding weapons to launch an unprovoked attack against women, children and the disabled? Were the British police totally wrong and misguided to give awards, normally reserved for non-civilians to those brave individuals who defended the disabled against such an assualt? It would surprise me if you are a defender of wife beating, hitting children and sneering at the disabled. Even the most senior officer there said seating was actually torn up to enable to people to 'protect' themselves. Personally I'll rely on the opinion of the British Police which is probably way superior in its overall quality to yours .... as for the terms you were referred to .. I called you Little Gimp as you offered no factual evidence about how we someone got mugged by signing Bent and hence a Moron as all you could offer was 'you got mugged, he's well overpriced, you got mugged' ... and self indulgent and narsaccistic as the threads you produce are so long winded and dull as you lose track of what point you were trying to get across and have to start again. Its chalk and cheese with you .. either short and moronic, or long winded and life sapping
kernowboy
one event presented to make us ignore decades of events and believe the worst of the spurs fans arent scum? sounds reasonable to me...
bootoo
what event would it take to wipe the scum behaviour of a club in N7, both fans and owners?
kernowboy
(sir) Kernowboy might I suggest if you dont like the opinion of Arsenal fans that sp*rs have a higher than average amount of violent supporters then you dont come here? We get attacked everytime we play at your poor excuse for a stadium so why would we not think you started the trouble in Spain? Where were the heroic stewards when women and children who support Arsenal were being attacked?
iceman10
I've been to a number of derby games and all of these alleged incidents ... well they're blown completely out of all proportion. What we do know is that Arsenal have an inbred culture of dodgy deal, brown envelopes and down right disgraceful conduct since the days of Sir Herbert Norris, a man who should be stripped of that title if ever there was one.
kernowboy
And if you don't like the ground don't f***ing come .. you not welcome anyway. I wouldn't enter your poor Estadio de Luz copy except to take a dump in the centre circle, so don't expect any sympathy.
kernowboy
Of course Arsenal just resort to violence on the pitch setting a fine example for any children watching and then somehow trying to excuse it as some form of persecution. How about Wenger trying to attack Pardew? .. thats unprovoked violence for you
kernowboy
Yeah lets change the subject shall we?! Shows what type of human you are to simply dismiss people getting their jaws broken and faces smashed in as incidents that are blown out of proportion. Please tell me where the heroic stewards were when your fans attacked us?
iceman10
So normal human beings should stop watching the game they love because of some neanderthal monkeys who support your club? what a great way to stop violence at your shoebox stadium. Ask Daniel 'let me write a letter to get in the champions league' Levy if he wants to swap our copy stadium for your dump.
iceman10
Funny how you refer to alleged incidents which never seen to be reported in the press yet conveniently forget attacks by your own supporters which make it into the broadsheets - Stewards are responsible for public safety in and in the immediate vacinity of the stadium .. if this has happened .. why weren't Spurs reported over it? At worse comes to worse it was a lucky blow, and based on the provocation you'll lot subject people to, what do you expect?
kernowboy
Oh it was 10 Arsenal fans beat a fan wearing a ManU shirt unconcious at Highbury stadium. Not so brave of you either.
kernowboy
Yeah Arsenal fans respected throughout Europe for our good behaviour provoked sp*rs fans with cries of "2-0 and you f*@ked it up" and "Lasagne whoooooooa" so they fully deserved to be subjected to violent attacks, fool.
iceman10
Arsenal fans aren't respected anywhere ... and again exactly where is this evidence of violent attacks? Direct me to the press article. Like your own Arsene Wenger, I didn't see anything
kernowboy
We wouldn't dump on your turf Cornwall kid! Besides, there's more than enough crap on your pitch already, what with Robinson and Lee and Ghaly and Zokoro and Huddlestone...................
flv
Can't you see his logic iceman? Because Norris allegedly used a brown envelope a century ago, it's ok to have a bit of random violence - what's the big deal with the occasional broken jaw or threatening women. Kernowboy has the makings of a great amabassador for peace.
Andy-bayor
Come to think of it I'm gonna organise a little trip over to Germany where I will aim random punches at any locals - that'll make them regret starting WW2...
Andy-bayor
Never claimed otherwise ... again incidents that were claimed to have happened .. the broken jaw was Little Dutch's partner and all we have is his word for it .. sounds like tiresome bleating to me - Norris did behave in that manner its a matter for the record the same fraudulent behaviour is steeped in the soul of your club
kernowboy
If you look to the press for truth, then it is you sir, who is the moron. If you hate my articles so much, I once again have to ask, this time in the hope that you'll answer the enquiry, why you read them so often? Using the typical words, "women, children, disabled" is the biggest cop out in the book. I saw a lot of blokes hurling seats yards and yards away from where they were standing. As for my evidence for getting mugged in the signing of Bent, I submit for your approval your honour, £16.5m for a non England international (Alan Smith is above him in the England pecking order). The phrase you use, "you not welcome anyway", is exactly the type of primitive, almost simian phrasology I would expect from a Spurs fan. Anyways, me tired, me go bed now.
Little Dutch
Why?, I've got no problems with the Germans. I drive a BMW, remember Klinsmann as a god, thought Freund was underrated and work with this total babe from Saxony. Nothing wrong with the Germans .. unless they're Arsenal supporters
kernowboy
Err, Bent made his debut against Uruguay. Please try to be factually accurate
kernowboy
And the subsequent - this means not the initial reason - for hurling of seating was to try to deter a second unprovoked charge by the Guardia Civil. Does it not occur as strange that it is semi trained paramilitary forces that have been involved in every recent incident. I guess all those Liverpool fans defrauded out of the European Cup Final were all hooligans as well?
kernowboy
you are quite funny when you get going aren't you? Don't you support the same club who were done some 10 years ago for financial irregularites? Pot calling the kettle black? Course not!
Andy-bayor
One incident vs a history of bent dealing (pardon the pun) - the irregularities were actually unrecorded payments to our own players - and the penalties initially awarded against the club including an FA Cup ban and points deduction were over turned as the event was several years earlier and it was actually the club that brought it to the attention of the FA, through Sir Alan. Your point is ....
kernowboy
Herbert Norris LOL!! what a confused little kernow, I presume you refer to Sir Henry Norris or in your fuddled little cranium he and Herbert Chapman are one and the same, you'd think he would remember the name of the irrascible bounder that got his beloved Spurts relegated in the first post war season.
nikolaijns
Lol! @ niko!
iceman10
Allegations, allegations! They're a bummer aren't they!
Andy-bayor
No skill, no pace, a f***** waste of space Darren Bent, Darren Bent.
flv
Apologies ... Sir Henry George Norris though most corrupt chairman in the history of English Football. and if you weren't such a Moron, Niko, both clubs were in the 2nd decision at the time, in the first postwar season, Spurs finished 3rd, Arsenal 6th and Norris engineered a crooked deal involving bribery to get Arsenal promoted. If you are in the 2nd division and have finished in the top3 its called PROMOTION you ignorant retard
kernowboy
and Norris was eventually banned for life from football for corruption. The poster boy for Arsenal FC.
kernowboy
The hatred is eating him up! Keep knawing at them fingers stumpy!
iceman10
don't sweat it - arsenal don't do massive signings - the fact no one will have heard of him will work in his favour - he has nothing to prove
Dales_Dad
As you were expecting 1st div football but instead got 2nd div its as good as relegation really, why all the insults? Real brave little trooper in the safety of your armchair in sheepsville ain't we sunshine? whats the matter spurned by your sister again?
nikolaijns
Come along to WHL next season then ... if you weren't so totally stupid you'd realise that sheep farming is not the principle form of agriculture in Cornwall ... so why the sheep reference ... enlighten us with your intelligence as to why you've used the reference 'Sheepsville' for a place without sheep ... dumbass .. and Cornwall is about 225miles from my armchair - as your sister's also your mother you can hardly talk
kernowboy
The decision to promote us instead of Spurs was justified though kernowboy as your lot have been relegated in disgrace a few times while we have remained in the top flight ever since! Obviously they needed one reliably decent team in North London to uphold the honour of the area.
Amos.
My favourite Da Silva quote ... read ladies - As for his ideal destination, he is emphatic. "Sevilla [FC] are my favourite club! They are great club and very soon they will be big like Real Madrid [CF] and [FC] Barcelona. If I got an offer from them, it would be my priority no matter what other club is bidding for me." Uttered on the 1st June 2007 http://www.uefa.com/magazine/news/kind=512/newsid=545308.htm HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
kernowboy
Not quite as bad as Chimbonda wanting to play for Arsenal though is it.
Amos.
Pasty farming is Cornwall's number 1 form of agriculture. Everybody knows that. 8-)
flv
"Campbell had previously stated in an interview with Spurs Monthly that he would never play for Arsenal" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
iceman10
In 1915 you finished in the bottom two, so you deserved to get relegated anyway! Chelsea and Arsenal managed to gain entry into Div.1 with political manoeuvres - no bribery was ever proved. Back to today, £16m for Bent is robbery unless he manages to get you to knock Liverpool out of the Top 4.
Andy-bayor
At last an educated Arsenal fan
kernowboy
They make the finest pasties in the world them 3 armed inbreds!
iceman10
In reference to flv only
kernowboy
Norris was actually banned for life for taking money out your coffers ... as was Graham ... you don't learn do you - not too bright
kernowboy
lmao, kerno/Sir Haribo possesses such hatred and venom it's almost shameful. Don't blame you though, even history has proven to whup Sp*rs A double S. Corrupt or not! *insert obnoxious laughter* (caps lock broke)
tikabooson
What's eating you up mate? Come on share with us friendly gooners.
Andy-bayor
tikabooson, has your keyboard has a spaz moment? ... its kernoWBOY - learn to spell, the letters aren't even close on the keyboard (apologies if you are dislexic)
kernowboy
It's dyslexic kernowboy - not dislexic
Amos.
My search continues for an educated Spurs fan, and it's been a long, long search. Did I fail to mention that my real name is Methuselah? You know kernowboy, I sometimes think that all you need is a hug! 8-)
flv
He thinks Sp*rs would have won all our trophies if we had stayed south of the river, he wants back whats rightfully his! He will not stop in his quest to tanrnish our history with his dirty protests! He's upset that we have signed a man called Dudu as he thinks we are taking the p'ss in regards lasagne-gate!
iceman10
its spelt with a 'y' - dyslexic
Andy-bayor
No, I spent the afternoon getting soaked on at Wimbledon having to put up with the missus's ignorant t**t of a Gooner brother - personally it was as pleasant as sucking the sweat off the testicles of a dead goat (I imagine) - I was just wondering if I could make myself as popular as K_chelski .. apparently he's bending over in some back alley in Recife trying to raise money for next months internet connection
kernowboy
"dislexic"? Me? It's 'Dyslexic' you spazmo.
tikabooson
Sir Haribo! lol, I remember him, the dude who went mad i front of thousands on the vital network! seems he has a replacement in Kernowboy or he has escaped his straight jacket and changed his username!
iceman10
lol ice 8-)
flv
Nope, I just hate Gooners in all shapes and forms. Don't have a Gooner friend and damn proud of the fact.
kernowboy
kevin's only crime was to support Chavs.. oh and not sending us photos of the butts on Brazil's finest beaches!
Andy-bayor
Personally pics of the girls would be more rewarding but each to their own
kernowboy
you are a miserable bugger aren't you? What are you gonna do when we administer your annual medecine on the pitch... or god forbid, you get relegated?
Andy-bayor
Hate is such a waste of energy kernow. You should spend a bit more time loving y'know? Start with your hand! 8-)
flv
Well better my hand than you with your mother flv
kernowboy
*medicine
Andy-bayor
lol iceman! Apparently kids and grown-ups don't love him so, the unfortunate end of Sir Haribo... or is it?? For someone who hates gooners, you sure are making yourself welcome here, aren't you?
tikabooson
She's been at you with that strap on again has she? I keep telling her about that. Apologies for that!
flv
oh dear, he can't even effin spell, that sort've throws out the ''educated'' argument does it not? Anyways, referring to your points earlier about us 'not welcome anyway', (you've done well there by the way, 2 polysyllabic words after each other) i've witnessed on several occasions your ''fans'' trying to give scarfers/women/children a slap, joke really...
AFC85Lew
tikabooson - what? ... My intention isn't to make myself welcome - I'm surprised that this needs to be spelt out ... who is Sir Haribo? ... adding an 'o' to someone's name is a tw*t like Aussie practice .. another local Arsenal fan then
kernowboy
Bollox Amos i thought i got in there with the ''dislexic'' thing ;-)
AFC85Lew
Does it bother you that I've added an 'o' to 'his' username? AFC, I'm the one who is apparently "dislexic" because I can't spell... the man is a genius.
tikabooson
Wimbledon LOOOOOL were you a little ball boy Kermitboy? My missues brother is a trottybum numpty I spent an entire evening with the loser a couple of years ago after an entire 5 hours of getting him into clubs as a favour to 'er indoors and putting up with his inability to hold his booze and drugs and endless anti Arsenal spoutings I had enough and kicked the idiots bollox into his stomach, he learnt a valuable life lesson that night, one I'm always happy to teach. Your obviously just blatantly bitter at signing an overrated worse than average English player whilst we have scoured the planet for another future footballing genius, deal with it then do one.
nikolaijns
No, just a question which you skillfully avoided. It is an Australian who led to our involvement in Iraq, our boys getting killed and the ruination of English football. Three ****ing slaps all round. Think about it.
kernowboy
I thought whiter than white Arsenal fans had no place for violence. I can tell of you of glorious nights from Paris in pubs watching their nonEnglish team loose and come up with endless excuses and acts of bad sportsmanship (like the management) each more pitiful than the previous one.
kernowboy
No excuse was ever worse than your bunch trying to pull a sickie on the last game of the season. They knew West Ham would play them off the park so they all had a group *****e! Fortunately, the FA had the sense to have them change their nappies and play.
flv
I thought Wenger was responsible for the destruction of the English game.
Andy-bayor
Oh yes, because taking the ***** out of the poster who coincidentally used the same name as his log-in, is really the same as insulting the brave man... get real. The poster was an obnoxious ****hole, he didn't deserve to use it as a username. You know what you can do with those three slaps. Shove 'em..
tikabooson
LOL! The lasagne incident will truly be immortalised, i can imagine Kernalboy telling his grandson about the time Tottenham so very nearly made it into the top 4....
AFC85Lew
Whiter than white Kermit? yeah son thats me Lol. So let me get this straight, you spend an unhealthily lonely amount of time on an Arsenal page, and spent nights in Parisienne bars watching our team play, all the time hating us with a passion? is that right? man that is truly the most saddest thing I've heard in a long time. What a waste of life. I ain't exaggerating to say your lot mean fack all to me If you're on the box I'll switch, lifes way to short to waste it on rubbish like that. Believe me Kermit I ain't a violent individual and generally am big enuff to walk, but sometimes all other options run out.
nikolaijns
Lol boys its so fitting that the only time in the history of the prem that Trottybum had it in their hands to qualify for CL their elusive holy grail (something we almost take for granted year after year) and they actually physically $hit themselves! You could'nt make it up, they should repeat it on UK gold, comedy genius.
nikolaijns
Its good to see Kernowboy has been brushing up on his Arsenal history, guess it beats reading about spurs. Thing is with spurs its all history and future, never now. I only skimmed through this post but I got the jist - some guy called Henry screwed over spurs a hundred years ago which was around about the last time spurs beat Arsenal.
gooner303
lol AFC. It'll probably rank up there with the day that they almost beat Arsenal 2-0 in the Carling Cup Semi 1st leg, or when they almost caught Adebayor offside on their first glorious outing to our new stadium, on the day that they were only three goals away from their legendry Emirates curse working.
flv
lol nik! If it's on at primetime, I'm sure sponsors would be charging to win the spot. Pampers and Andrex, its a two horse race!
tikabooson
It really is too funny... they could have offered millions in prize money but nobody could have written a script like the one that unfolded on that sh(i)t-laden day last year. We are blessed to have a story like that to tell... kernowboy's scarpered now - probably having a go at Vital Chavs, to see if he has more luck there.
Andy-bayor
yeah who else could it have happened to? If someone would have gone back in time and told me 10 years ago that a team would physically fill their pants at a crucial end of season game in years to come, I would have broke the bank to bet on the national joke that is Rottenham. I feckin love lasagne - and I feckin love you too Goonerchef wherever you are!
nikolaijns
Nordtveit's arrived, too: http://tinyurl.com/2tygag
Jammathon
I'm glad we've finally bought a striker. This guy is a very good striker, your typical poacher. He is similar to Wrighty in that he only needs one chance in a game and he'll put it away. Exactly what we've needed for the past few years. If we can create anywhere near as many chances per game as we did last year, this fella's gonna grab a hat full. I love the smokecreens that were put up in the press as well. Arsene is great at doing this in the transfer market. The transfers of Rosicky, Reyes, Suker, Henry, Vieira, Petit and Overmars to name a few all came out of the blue! And that is great news that we might be making more signings too! I still wouldn't mind Obafemi Martins, plus this would take a lot of pressure off of Eduardo. Now all we need is for Wenger to put pen to paper on a new contract and for him to get rid of the heap of *****e that is Philip Senderos. Arsene knows!
codchops
I have a great understanding now..Spurs fans are all gay and hide their love for us Gooners
#1Gooner
Eduardo isn't just excellent player he is big worker and he have perfect personality...anelka doesn't....
andy croat 27
some of you said that is better sign Anelka, Owen ..... Eduardo is better than they....you will see
andy croat 27
Hello andy croat! Do you think he is better than Darren Bent who is now playing for Tottenham and cost 25m Euros (and 4m Euros salary every year)?
Andy-bayor
I'm sure Eduardo Scroat is an excellent player having racked up his record in Europe's best domestic league, for the one team anyone has ever heard of now that Hadjuk Split have fallen away. It must be like ManU playing Accrington Stanley every other week. This is a guy with the perfect personality who last month said he would join Sevilla over every other club in Europe being compared to a young English guy who has been one of the Prem league's top scorers despite frequently playing in a lone role, for a middling to below average team, and who willing gave up £30K a week to join a team he knows will advance his career. How many players in the Premiership does anyone know who would take a 46% pay cut? Now thats the perfect personality. He's now on about 3.75m Euros and Eduardo Scroat is on 2.3m Euros so not a lot of difference there.
kernowboy
The kernowboy doth protest too much!
Andy-bayor
No more than the collective Gooner pants wetting in desperate hoping rather than cold and logical analysis.
kernowboy
What kind of analyses would you like exactly? Something incisive like "Darren Bent is the 'perfect' personality" perhaps? He may well be a nice chap, despite wanting so desperately to play for Spuds. At £16.5m plus wages though, he is a touch on the heavy side given he is not that prolific. The fact you are trying so desperately to convince us he is worth it before a ball has been kicked, says more about your state of mind than it does ours.
Andy-bayor
to ker...something---- he played for national team for 12 matches and scored 7 goals (russia, izrael, england, macedonia...) in friendly match against Italy.... he score against arsenal in london(1 chanses / 1 goal) just be patient with him... he is great player and excellent guy, arsenal fans will love him...big hearth for fighting... you willl see.... he have everythink what he need for success in arsenal
andy croat 27
Well said Andy. Darren Bent seems to be a professional lad and if its true that he turned down West Ham's money, then it only serves to restore a little confidence in today's footballers. But trying to justify that against his price is a bit over the top.
prits
He scored in a friendly - wow - hold the press ... Andy-Bayor, you could probably be prolific in the Croatian League. You lot slag off Bent because 1) he's decided to join Spurs 2) HE'S ENGLISH and a decent English player is something you cannot stand
kernowboy
Kernow you are talking rubbish now! Seriously I'm getting worried about you. We don't slag Bent off... and no, we don't hate him either - how can you hate someone who looks like he wouldn't hurt a fly bless him? We're just saying you were mugged on the transfer fee, no matter which country he hails from! Zut alors!
Andy-bayor
Kernowboy, I dont know how much you earn but for me theres a lot of difference between 3.75m Euros a year and 2.3m Euros. I certainly wouldnt mind being paid the difference.
gooner303
The Football League Co-efficient for the Croatian League is 14.083. This puts the league behind Israel's in terms of difficulty. The Premierships rating is 63.486. DaSilva scored 34 goals which divided by 4.5 (the difference in League strength) means this total might have been 7.5goals in the Premiership. Bent scored 14 goals. Assuming that DaSilva's final fee is half the price, then he is (very) marginally the better player but there is no guarantee he'll adapt. Bent was however playing for a poor team, DaSilva playing for the completely superior team in his league so you'd assume he'd get the bulk of the chances created. Please again explain how Spurs were mugged?
kernowboy
you can prove anything with stats but the best stat I like is that spurs havent beaten arsenal in the league since last century (7 November 1999 - if you want to get all statto on me). Coefficents aside, How do you explain Eduardo's excellent international goal record then? Hes more proven internationally than Bent and certainly made Robinson look (eve) daft(er than usual)
gooner303
when I finish crying with laughter, I will consider a seriosu reply to that one Einstein!
Andy-bayor
Dont mention Einstein, he sounds foreign and not english enough for bulldog tottenham.
gooner303
Kernowboy any chance you can figure out tonights lotto numbers with ur ludicrous system??!
iceman10
unlikely Iceman Kermitboy struggles to dress and feed himself, you can tell from his backward oooh aahh ramblings ps hes touchy about sheep, theres none in Cornwall so don't mention sheep, I mentioned them once but I think I got away with it lol.
nikolaijns
kernowboy, tried to find a serious reply to your co-efficients but I'm stumped... the only thing to add (if you can bear it) is that Croatia are ranked 11th in world, and England 8th, but even that fact is pretty meaningless when what counts is their blending into a team's style... if Dudu hits top gear with us, make now mistake, he will be tearing your team a new as(s)hole.
Andy-bayor
lol Andy they already have thousands of those.
nikolaijns
yep niko, you would be referring to the same a-holes that 14 months ago were gushing fountains of sh(i)te all over Upton Park lol
Andy-bayor
Andy-bayor, how many Croats in their National team actually play in their domestic league? anyone can tear up in a poor domestic league. Thats why there is also a co-efficient for the golden boot award otherwise some guy in the Faroe Islands would be winning it.
kernowboy
kernowboy, so how do players go from being in their national league to the italian, english & spanish leagues? Teams sign them and as with all great players they step up to the challenge. I hadnt heard of world class players like Nedved, Larsson, Eto, Weah, Stoichkov, Puskas, Lee Young-Pyo before they left their poor national leagues. You still havent explained how he has a better national record than most strikers (incl. Torres & Bent) and plays for team that tops Englands euro group. Says a lot about the difference in quality of players who turn out for england and those that play for croatia!!!!
gooner303
kernowboy it's pointless discussing what our new boy will do - who knows? (apart from Arsene that is lol)... The way you support your arguments is a wilful and laughable though, as you are hell-Bent (there I go again!) on running our man down. It's a team game though, and if you think Bent is gonna take you to the Top4, then dream on - we agree to disagree... but who would I prefer between a lukewarm, £16m adapted striker, and our not-yet-adapted potential £8m livewire? Dudu, Dudu !!! Makes my pulse quicken that our guy enters a team who create more chances than anyone else - and that's a stat to hang your hat on.
Andy-bayor
Is bent gonna help sp*rs stop the influx of goals past fatty? (least clean sheets in the prem last year.....wow!) Was the spuds problem last season goalscoring? Is their central midfield as useful as paper mache in the rain? Is King the new Anderton? Regardless of personal do they still have the most useless coach in the premiership bar none?
iceman10
exactly iceman! They rely on a Jenas-inspired midfield and co-efficient-poor defence and still expect to challenge us!
Andy-bayor
i'm sure that somehow kernow will dazzle us with a coefficient that proves that spurs are actually the best team in the world. Somehow he will prove that despite consistently finishing many points behind us, scoring less goals & conceding more, winning less games & losing more, playing in the wafer cup whilst we play in the CL every year, winning less trophies, having never won the league in the modern era (i.e. since colour tvs were invented), not winning a major cup in quarter of a century but still somehow spurs are still better than Arsenal!!
gooner303
Nerdoboys response to you gooner303 will be "Between 1946 and 1950 the research staff of RCA Laboratories invented the world’s first electronic, monochrome compatible, color television system so we have infact won the league during a colour television period."
iceman10
damn. I forgot that. But were they domestically available for the mighty trots to enjoy said historic event? Getting back to the subject which was Arsenals incoming players, I do hope we sign that french geezer whats his name? Oh yes Bakri Sagna. I'm sure spurts wont enjoy seeing La Sagna.
gooner303
Sp*rs don't have the balls to compete for the CL. They're even one ball short from having a c0ck and testicles on their crest. What came first, the chicken or the ball? Answers on a postcard, please.
tikabooson
umm, I'm goin for the ball Tikaboo otherwise the chicken would have nout to balance on, thus would hang mid air and that is impossible as chickens can't fly, if we had a ball in our badge we'd have cannon and ball! Rock on Tommy!!
nikolaijns
You don't think it might be a constipated chicken that shat out a ball shaped turd? It would explain a lot of things... a chicken sh_t football club with sh_t talking fans.
tikabooson
Actually I should apologies, Spurs of course won the fa cup in 1991 not 25 years ago but either way its soooo last century
gooner303
for kernowboy--- did you know that Davor Suker played also in Dinamo Zagreb and he never scored 34 goals for dinamo in one season, but he was played for Real Madrid and scored over 20 goals in one season, and he was the best scorer in France '98. When he came in Arsenal he was old but he had a great carrier.... you are statistics maniac
andy croat 27
and somethink else for kernowboy..... in national team from dinamo play....Luka Modrić, Ćorluka and Eduardo in first eleven...they also played against England in Zagreb and against Arsenal.... England lost if I remember but who from Arsenal play for England national team.... don't forget who is on first place in qualifications for Euro.... Croatia played in France 98(third place), in Korea and Japan, Germany they regulary played on big events..... and becouse that don't speak like that about croatian football school.... Eduardo is young and good player, he need a chance......

Interesting that you should chose the League Co-efficients to justify the Bent purchase and slate Eduardo. This system is used to arrive at the Annual Golden Shoe awards for most prolific striker in their respective leagues. As the Croatian League is weaker Eduardo only managed 16th place equal to Ronaldo. As for Darren Bent? Nowhere to be seen in the top 20! http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/news/kind=2/newsid=552524.html
