Fiorentina In Talks Over Arsenal Ace

Fredrik Ljungbergs agent has confirmed that his employers are in negotiations with Italian club Fiorentina over the possible transfer of the Swedish captain.

Speculation over the once free scoring midfielder's future has long been a feature of the press in England and abroard.

Ljungberg has struggled for both fitness and form over the last 2 seasons, managing less goals in those 2 years than he did in the 04/05 season.

Freddie has fallen out of favour at Arsenal since the arrival of Alex Hleb and Tomas Rosicky. His rather large wages (reported to be £70,000 a week) is also a massive drain on Arsenal's wage budget.

Fiorentina's interest was first reported in January, but it was denied by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who stated that the Swede was still in his plans.

Ljungberg's agent Claes Elefalk told Swedish news agency TT: 'The two clubs are in discussions.

'If they can come to an agreement, then Fredrik can think about looking closer at a move.'

Elefalk went on to say that the winger is still happy at Arsenal: 'Fredrik is really happy at Arsenal, but if it is an option, he could also consider a move to Fiorentina.'

There will be no team left. S h i T!!
cockeril
then you'd have nothing left to talk about cockeril, except your own dismal excuse for a club.
JakeB
I always find it mildly funny when a spud fan writes the word s h i t, I dunno why! :)
iceman10
could it be the fact that not so long ago they rechristened Wet spams ground upton parp Iceman?
nikolaijns
Sad to see him leave but it is time. :(
gunnerkid107
I think that might be the reason niko!? Maybe its because Lennon got the s h i t s before last years semi final at our place? Im undecided.
iceman10
Can't wait for the excuses this season, what'll it be? chickenpox? bird flu? thats worthy of a poll "what will stricken the fricken chicken?"
nikolaijns
Yeah.. if we are in discussions it obviously means that we want to let him move.. reports about Bojinov moving the other way... but that could be rubbish.. it mite be a good deal though.
arsenalrulz4ever
Sad to see him go, but this can only mean a younger replacement, which is the way forward.
prits
ciao Fredski. One of the better players. Wont dislike you at all if you go.
Goofle
You dont bad mouth the club or the supporters. You were a true gooner :) But you are past it now :(
Goofle
replacement for Fredski is Luka Modric...you will see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_y99jRpalFA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agUK6C_iuMQ

HE IS A GUNNER LEGEND !!!! but sad ly its time 2 go.....:(
HENRY`14
Who`s going to get the goals?????
cockeril
yes cockeril, because thierry and freddie scored so many goals last season. what are we to do?
JakeB
A Legend,he leaves a gooner,unlike some...
Babeasta
There goals as well as pires made you tiltle contenders. now you are CL pretenders and more like Ufea hopefulls.
cockeril
JakeB how times have changed. Sounds like you were content with 4th spot, same aspirations this year. you aim so high!!
cockeril
Guys - looks like the Sagna move is on according to several papers. Is anyone else as bemused as me about this potential signing of a right-back?? Surely we could spend our money in other positions, even though Eboue is going to be away for a month (we have Hoyte and even Djourou could cover there).
Gooner_Vin
i belive that sagna will play rb and eboue will play in rm...(since he is gr8 while attacking + is probably our best crosser)
HENRY`14
Henry 14 - and where will Hleb go do you reckon...?
Gooner_Vin
Bye bye Freddie. He did us proud while he was here but he sadly became a shadow of his former self. He spent more time telling other players we needed to get stuck in than he did getting stuck in. A sad end but a needed end!
Rocky7
Anyone for Bojinov in exchange?
ArsenalRob
I can't believe any team would be willing to pay more tahn £2 million for Freddy since he's been so woefully out of form and injured for the last 2 years....? Also i think only Inter, AC and Juve could afford his wages if he went to Italy!
LondonGooner
When Freddy goes, that will really signal the end of that fantastic generation of players that we have been so fortunate to watch. Thanks Freddie, you've been great! On we go!
flv
agree with most comments here-freddie will go down as a true arsenal legend and i'll definately miss him. on another note-mayb gallas should take note of rosicky's comments on skysports.com. thats how you encourage the rest of the squad william-please take note!
Labwam
Forget about all the transfer rumours - what about the Caramac bars??? Where can I get them???
GilzeanIsKing
Etchells on beech road has been a committed servant to the Caramac bar for decades
Phartman87
Thank you Phartman - I have not had a Caramac for many years and in fact (and I will get it in before you lot do) not since Spurs were winning stuff!!! (Plenty of mileage there people).
GilzeanIsKing
How old ARE you Gilzean?? lol
nikolaijns
53 next month nikol - all gifts gratefully received (OK I might decline an AFC season ticket).
GilzeanIsKing
Has had problems with his fitness and would not begrudge him for leaving. A true hero in his own right.
Zimbolicious
Yo've bought trouble with Gallas, I can see a pattern here.
Topspur1
Freddy has served us guners well since first signing with us, he had been told that he was no longer a first team regular and with his carear coming to an end shortly if i had been him i would move on to play football week in and week out. What ever freddy does i wish him good luck and thanks
wyndedapper
aye, t'will be ashame if the fredster goers, but everythign has it's natural cycle, and now it looks like his time has come.

What remains to be said is - Thank you Fred for your always loyal behaviour, we have never had to endure continual stories of yu being enticed by 'Club X', even though you are a poster boy. Real came sniffing once or twice, i f I recall, but you never once lookedas though you would move. You gave us the best years of your career, and many great memories, That red hair wil llive long in the memory, along with the many crucial goals you have scored for us. If you should move, good luck with the rest of your career, and from a Gooner, here's hoping that you make a big splash wherever you go to... »»Arsene Knows««
Wingston75
He had one good season and then never flourised again, so dissapoting, he should have kept that red hair, he seemed to play better when he had it!
rk1888
Building for the future would Freddie get in either of the other top club teams, would west ham buy him?
col8
After reading that Ljunberg is refusing offers from any Premier Club because of his love for Arsenal is refreshing to any football fan. Loyalty from a professional footballer - rare but refreshing. Good luck to him wherever he goes.
GilzeanIsKing
Italy or Manchester? What would you do? LOL!
sandgroanun
Well, he's a great player and was one of Wenger's first signings; good luck!
