Bernie & Arsenal: Perfect Formula?

Bernie & Arsenal: Perfect Formula?

Formula 1 mogul, Bernie Ecclestone claims that he would be interested in buying Arsenal Football Club if it were 'cheap enough'.

Silent Stan Kroenke has allegedly been trying to buy the club for some time, and maybe he could now have some competition?

In an interview that had me laughing from start to finish, Ecclestone, who is friends with David Dein says he will 'have a go at anything'.

'I don't know too much about it (the story) actually,' said Ecclestone.

'It's good if somebody is saying that because maybe I will get approached - and maybe it will be cheap enough. I've not spoken with anybody at Arsenal. I obviously talked to David (Dein) when they chucked him out, which I thought was a bit unnecessary.'

'But if somebody offers me something that I think has got good value, I will have a go.'

He then went on to speak about his visits to Stamford Bridge and that he and a friend considered buying the Blues before Roman stepped in.

In all honesty I think Bernie has no idea what he's talking about. He may have amassed over £3 Billion but if he is looking for a bargain of a football club, he's looking in the wrong place.

Lol. Apparently he's a Chelsea "fan" as well isn't he? I'm for Kroenke though, you?

I'm for anything that benefits Arsenal. As for Bernie, when he said "I obviously talked to David (Dein) when they chucked him out, which I thought was a bit unnecessary" .....I laughed just a tad.

At least loathsome Bernie's attitude lays bare (to anyone in doubt) the true attitude and aggression that makes top businessmen tick. These guys may be very successful and adept at business, but our board of old-timers has something that these people will never have.

Rocky, I think the point of this interview was to reduce opposition to Kroenke's takeover, which is working, if you ask me. I'd rather have Kroenke buy the club than Bernie (IF ever a takeover was on the cards). When I read his - "I'll buy anything if its cheap enough comment", I said - hell no. But I suppose there IS a lighter side to the interview :).

Just out of curiosity, how come you run a story on Bernie's takeover, but nothing on Kroenke's supposed bid, which if you believe sky, is imminent ?

Prits, I honestly believe he is being serious, but the comments he makes in such a "poundstretcher shopper" kinda of way make it laughable!
