Arsenal to Lose Out On Di Maria?

Argentine Under-20 star, Angel Di Maria is reported to have agreed a deal with Portuguese club Benfica, despite being quoted as saying talks with Arsenal are going well.

The 19-year-old winger is quoted by Fox Sports as saying: 'They (Arsenal) were speaking with me, and all is going well - not only on personal terms but also the talks with Rosario Central.

'It would be great, especially if it benefits my family and Rosario Central. I would like that all to be resolved as soon as possible, because the Argentinian season begins in two weeks.'

Although no source is named by Fox Sports or any other website running the story, which could suggest the quote is in fact, a hoax.

Sky Sports report a very different side to the story. According to Sky, he is set to Join Benfica. According to Sky, Di Maria will join Benfica with team mate Andres Diaz for £4Million.

Both are reported to be flying in this weekend to have their medicals and sign five year deals.

I've not seen anything of this guy other than one of his goals during the Under 20 World Cup but I was excited about him coming to Arsenal. I have some eclairs and starburst if we need em for the negotiations.

I can chip in with a can of coke, some smarties and a pack of original opal fruits... i don't mind, its a team game after all.

Haha, I forgot about our unique bragening Saisho. I've got a walkers multi pack in the cupboard. :D... Like you, I haven't heard much about him. Looks good on youtube, but as always, you can't really judge a player on that alone.

I think we're gonna get him lads! How can anyone turn that lot down???

Well, thats yet another player we've missed out on. I'm really getting fed up with this. Wenger must realise we need an established player to come into the team to replace Ljungberg. I know Di Maria is not established but I think he could have played for us this season and done well. Surely he's got something up his sleeve? Please Wenger!!

I'm not sure it was a hoax Ex. Of course, no-one knows what to believe after the Palacio hoax but I know Grimandi was certainly watching Di Maria so there must have been some element of truth to it.
adamski243
if you look at Rosario Central's official page, you will notice that Di Maria is officially off to Benfica. I can't really feel sorry about this allegedly missed transfer. I have a feeling we need some bodies in the team though, after Freddie 'not so ready' Ljungberg departed.
