Wenger Confirms Reyes Exit

Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger has confirmed that moaning striker Jose Antonio Reyes will not be returning to the club.

The news will surprise no-one, but will comes as welcome relief that we will finally be rid of Reyes.

Speaking with SkySports news Wenger hinted that a deal for Reyes was almost done, and that the striker would not be returning to the Gunners.

'We will make an announcement shortly, but he will not come back here,' Wenger said.

'I cannot tell you more than that at the moment.'

Reyes agent says it's doubtful that Jose will join French champions, Lyon as the player doesn't speak French.

It's a shame, such a talented player. But this has dragged on long enough, sell him and put the money back into the team.
ditto. supposedly he's off to atletico as they outbid the miserly real.
Shame really. Great Player. I wish him the best of luck where ever he lands up :)
such a talent. i will always remember that one strike against chelsea in the fa cup and that dazzling goal against boro. shame this lad didnt have any backbone
NOW LETS BUY A LITTLE EXPERIENCE our squad just looks a little thin to me,Talented yes but not really a threat to mount a serious challenge a few injuries and it will be all up in smoke, all OUTGOING but nothing coming in,PUT THE MONEY BACK IN THE TEAM,Does anyone know where the surplus money is ending up?????????
highmark, lets wait till the window closes, shall we. Wenger has something up his sleeve in terms of signings, I am confident of that. As for Reyes, a relief, and good riddance. Sure, he gave us some good memories, and is a good talent, but I hope the club hasnt lost too much money on the whole.
It's said he'll go to Real for 6.5m, too low for a player of his class. But what the heck, Wenger has to buy a winger and Silva of Valencia or Adriano of Sevilla will fit the bill!!!
Its said he might to Atletico, I hope he goes there and not to Real Madrid. Will show them a thing or two.
That is just a rumour, karley, nothing to get excited/worried about. I am sure Wenger will buy someone, just sit tight and wait.
well it almost seems to be done....can u guys temme wat sort of player is was said he was the new makelele so this means we 7 ppl for 2 places.........wat is goin on
Who said we are buying Diarra? A pity the evil sisters destroyed Reyes but I did like his style. Can someone tell me why if a player is consider an special talent he is given a W/P, yet Vela is not??
Vela is not yet 18, I think, thats the only reason. karley, where are you getting this 'its almost done' for Diarra from? It seems to be *********, coz 1. We dont need to strengthen mid-field or RB 2. Chelsea wouldnt sell to Arsenal (the Cole-Gallas swap was a one-off)
well it seems diarra has one more year left on his contract and i am chelsea are not stupid enuf to allow him go on free so they jus mite sell.......i certainly hope this is not true cuz i dont see this useful unless gilberto or song is being sol...which i dont think will happen so i seriously hope this is jus a pprits hum do u reckon we shud sign..quaresma pedersen...or from wat i hear modric......wat do u think?
karley, I have stopped trying to predict what Wenger does in the transfer market. I think that he will sign a winger, and I trust his judgment, whoever it is. Unlikely to be Pedersen though coz I dont think Blackburn will sell.
c'mon jus for speculation purposes...hum do u think we shud sign......btw if eduardo doesnot get his work permit.wat happens.....there is an article i read somewhere the nicoolas anelka has been told that if eduardo's doesnt work out we would go ahead and get him......ur views?
Quaresma, Drenthe, Kahlenberg. There are several options there. To be honest, I havent seen enough (just a little bit) of any of these players, so I find it tedious to speculate. Edu should get his work permit, I dont think that will be a problem. Wenger seems to be fairly confident.
who was in the least bit surpriased to hear the 'revelations' that he probably wouldnt join Lyon because of the language barrier, and that he might not settle. I know I've gone easy on the guy in the past, but please just let's get shot of him, i am tired of his constant bleating and 'pity poor me' attitide, the guy gets paid handsomely and hardly seems to have made any effort to integrate to England, and has pretty much raised the same thing with the comments about the proposed lyon move. »»Arsene Knows««.
Thats the spirit Wingers!, what Reyes wants should really have little bearing on matters and I really could'nt care less. If a club wants him and is paying thats that.
i personally think we dont need any more most maybe a cb for a winger, we already have 1 his name is EBOUE ! (wasnt he brilliant yesterday !) i doubt wenger will buy any one else, cos r team is really lookin ready ....
I doubt whether Wenger will buy anyone now. With the Sagna signing, it looks like Eboue will definitely be more than a one-off option on right mid for us. This releases Hleb into perhaps a more central or roaming role. So you could argue we have Hleb, Rosicky, Walcott and Eboue for the 2 wide positions - and looks like Eduardo could be deployed there, and even van Persie. Centre mid is also packed with competition for places.
I was going to say good riddance to Reyes but I think that's a little harsh. I will be glad to see the back of him though. We got one good season out of him but that was it. I agree with Gooner_Vin. I don't think we'll sign anyone else this summer. It might be that Wenger waits until January and then signs at least one player and perhaps signs the new contract himself as well.
bye traitor
i honestly feel wenger has a trick up his sleeve. i wouldnt be too surprised if another player joined the squad before the window closes.
Reyes you are an idiot, this team will be the best we have ever had and you are turning them down; you are a clown. I just don't understand.
Best news you've had in quite a while!
He should go and go for good. You cant force a donkey go to river and drink water
were back on newsnow BABY!!!
