Wenger: Sign First, Qualify After

Arsene Wenger today urged Arsenal wonder striker, Thierry Henry to sign a new contract.

Wenger believes it is Henry's best interests to sign as soon as possible, as it would make it easier on himself ad the team to qualify for the Champions League.

'I think he knows the best way is to sign first and qualify after,'

'I think that's the only way you can do it because you need to be committed to qualify.

'He did not promise me face to face that he would sign, but he told me he wants to stay. For me that is basically the same.

'We have to focus on our priority, to get back in a Champions League position and we can catch Man United and Liverpool.'

'He has made up his mind and said he wants to stay,' said Wenger.

'I talk to him about the team, about how we want to play and how we want to progress. But not about that [being so far behind Chealsea].'

Regarding the naming of the stands at the Emirates, I think that they should be named in honour of Herbert Chapman, Bertie Mee, George Graham and Arsene Wenger. Four people who did so much to boost our club's reputation in four separate eras. Won't happen though, as there's no money in it....
