Arsenal vs. Barnet

Underhill

Saturday 15th July

3pm

Preview: Barnet v Arsenal

As the new season fast approaches, the mighty Gunners will face their sternest test in their pre-season build up to date.

Ok, so it's only the first game, but I haven't written one of these for a while and I felt the need to be a bit over dramatic.

This afternoon we take our annual trip to Underhill, only this time with a few less first teamers. Usually we play a fairly strong team in the first half with a few of the younger lads getting the opportunity to stretch their legs in the second, but with the World cup only just finished, coupled with the fact that the Arsenal had more players in attendance than any other club then the squad is quite diminished due to the world cuppers being on their jollies.

New boys Vincent van der Berg & Joe O`Cearuill look set to make their debuts, while Jeremie Aliadiere makes his return to the squad after loans spells at Celtic, West Ham & Wolves.

Squad to face Barnet:-

Manuel Almunia
Mart Poom
Vito Mannone
Jeremie Aliadiere
Nicklas Bendtner
Matthew Connolly
Pascal Cygan
Mathieu Flamini
Kerrea Gilbert
Justin Hoyte
Alex Hleb
Seb Larsson
Arturo Lupoli
Fabrice Muamba
Joe O`Cearuill
Alexandre Song
Ryan Smith
Anthony Stokes
Vincent van den Berg

Arsene Says......

"Basically it will be the strongest squad I can name from the players who weren`t involved in the World Cup.'

Arsenal Team News:

Loads of young and exciting players to have a butchers at.

Player to watch: Alex Hleb

Hleb has had a nice long rest during the summer and is a player I fully expect to have a massive impact on the Premiership next season. Also, if memory serves me correctly, Hleb scored his first ever goal for Arsenal within the first few minutes of this fixture last season.

Barnet Team News:

Erm.....yes.

Player to watch: One of them I'm sure

Sorry Barnet fans, I don't know much about anything on the subject of your club.

Next Fixture:

Dennis Bergkamp's testamonial.

hahahahaha so much for your brilliant youngsters and your strength in depth! couldnt even beat the mighty barnet! and you thought this season would be easy...
elmo85
Elmo - Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie, Manu Adebayor, Jose Reyes, Freddie Ljungberg, Tomas Rosicky, Cesc Fabregas, Gilberto, Abou Diaby, Lauren, Eboue, Ashley Cole, Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure, Johan Djourou, Jens Lehmann, were all missing from the squad, and if it hadn't been for some brilliant goalkeeping from the Barnet stopper we'd have hammered them about 6 nil.
