Chelsea vs. Arsenal

Stamford Bridge

Chelsea V Arsenal

Arsenal will be looking to get their title chase back on track on Sunday when they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the second half of Grand Slam Sunday.

Arsene Wenger will be hoping for a Liverpool win when the Scousers travel on Old Trafford to take on league leaders Manchester United in the day's early kick off.

Arsenal certainly need results to start going their way, as we're in danger of finishing third or even fourth, with Liverpool eight points behind us and they still have to play us this season. A defeat today would see us drop to third with Chelsea sitting one point ahead.

I have to say that the outlook is bleak for Arsenal at the moment. Four points in their last four games, scoring just four goals in that run. Adebayor hasn't hit the net in the league for six weeks now, and Van Persie is still finding his feet after five months out. Feel worried yet?

Well how about Chelsea's form. They've scored 11 goals in their last three games. Although the usual solid Chelsea backline was breached four times on Wednesday by Tottenham, who grabbed a draw in a thrilling game. The Fulham outfit haven't lost a game since we beat them in December and despite being written off for the title months ago, they now look like genuine title contenders.

It'll be very interesting indeed to see how the two teams line up. Will Arsene Wenger plump for a solid 4-5-1 formation and risk Adebayor being cut off from the rest of the team? Or will he see that we're lacking a goal threat and start with a 4-4-2 up front? I'm of the belief that he'll go for a 4-5-1 for the first hour or so.

Chelsea will no doubt line up with their usual 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation, with Joe Cole and either Wright Phillips or Malouda playing off Drogba. With Anelka coming off the bench, they have plenty of options in the final third.

Vital Quotes:

That never-ending fountain of footballing knowledge Alan Hansen believes that Arsenal forget the title if they lose to Chelsea and United beat Liverpool. 'If Manchester United beat Liverpool and Arsenal lose at Chelsea, Arsene Wenger can wave the title bye-bye in my opinion,' he wrote in his BBC blog. Considering how quickly Arsenal's fortunes have changed in recent weeks, I think Alan is talking out of his arse.

Arsene Wenger's comments and confidence in the build up to this game has been impressing me. He's been giving off the same vibes that he did in the build up to the Milan game a couple of weeks ago, and in the run up to the Real Madrid game 2 years ago. The first quote from him was the conclusion to his press confrence, but his words were said with a solid, meaningful look on his face: 'We've got the strength of character to win the title, believe me.

'That's my belief, my firm belief and at the game on Sunday you will see. Since the first day of the season I have said that I believe in this team.

'Come back in May and we will speak about it then. There's always a first time and, until you win, people have doubts about you and they're questioning you. But the strong ones keep going.'

The Arsenal manager spoke a lot of menatl strenght, and hunger. Two ingredients his players will need by the sackfull if they're to win the title: "Yes it is because they are further away from Manchester United. 'But, when we go into this game, we'll know the result of the United game against Liverpool. So that could even increase more the pressure on the game.

'But the mental strength we have in my squad, and the hunger that's in there for us to do well, I'm sure we'll come out in the final sprint."

Avram Grant is pleased with his teams form, and rightly so: 'There are eight games to go. We wanted to get to the position where it would be in our hands.

'We've worked hard for this from when I came here and now we need to use this situation. I am very happy with my team's form.

'We've played very good football in the last few games and scored a lot of goals. We are in a good shape in the right moment and I am very proud of this and respect what the players have done.'

Chelsea Team News:

Petr Cech will return between the sticks for Chelsea, which means Cudicini will drop back to the bench.

Anelka is back after recovering from a thigh injury that kept him out of the 4-4 draw with Spurs on Wednesday.

Midfield duo Michael Ballack and John Obi Mikel also return to the squad, meaning Avram Grant has a full squad to choose from.

Ashley Cole's attempts to get himself suspended for this game failed, so the gutless excuse for a human will have to face his former employers.

Player to watch: Joe Cole

The England winger has been simply superb in recent weeks. He tore Tottenham's defence to shreds at will on Wednesday.

His skill, pace, passing and shooting ability makes him a superb player, and one of the few Chelsea players with the technical ability to play in an Arsenal team.

Arsenal Team News:

Tomas Rosicky is still missing for Arsenal. When speaking to Arsenal.com in the week, Wenger said he had no idea when the winger could return, as he continues to struggle with injury.

Abou Diaby is also still out with a calf injry, while Eudardo is obviously still missing with his broken leg and dislocated ankle.

Player to watch: Robin Van Persie

Chelsea may have Essien in their team, but the lack of an out-and-out defensive midfielder means that when Van Persie comes on he can can drop back a bit and pop off shots from 20-25 yards, as well as get involved with the build up.

Adebayor is more than capable of keeping Chelsea's centre backs occupied for the entire game. Van Persie will benefit from that and find himself in a fait bit of space.

Ref Watch:

Mark Clattenburg will take to the field to referee the game at Stamford bridge. Interestingly, Arsenal are the only one of the top three to have won a game in which he has officiated this season (a 3-1 win over Spurs at White Hart Lane). United have lost twice under him, and Chelsea once.

Match Prediction:

Well my betting slip from William Hill has two different forecasts for this game. I've got 2-0 Chelsea, but I've also got Arsenal to win 1-0 and Van Persie to score (at 40/1 I had to have a punt!). However, I believe that my first bet is more likely. 2-0 Chelsea with goals from Drogba and Lampard.

Spot on with the match prediction. Chelsea shall win this tie 2 - 0.
ivanskg
I would go for a 2-0 Arsenal win. We are better than them and if the footballing God's are being faithful we will win.
Goofle
1-0 Arsenal, one of Gallas/Hleb/van Persie will score, not decided yet! Should be a good game, and hopefully Eboue will give Cole a few of those nasty kicks!
super_gooner
2-1 Arsenal. Chelsea to finish the game complaining from something controversial and Flamini to play brialliantly, as well as our full backs. Adebayor to get the Chavs really p*ssed off.
ArsenalRob
Oh thanks Simmo for predicting that.. ;) The butterflies have come out for me already..
Lou the Gunneress
Yeah I also have a feeling that our full-backs will have big roles to play. Arsene also said we'd "play with width". I've been feeling better since he said that.
Lou the Gunneress
2-0 to Arsenal. Both goals to come in the second half. Van Persie to score on of them. That's not wishful thinking. That's what will happen... (I hope) :)
Cheese.

Cheese.
Oops, sorry about that double posting...
Cheese.
Wth? Brown?! Why do these guys like him, Fletcher, O'Shea never play but only score against big teams..? :/
Lou the Gunneress
Lou, we have our own list like that. But it only consists of Gallas :) To be honest MU are playing better. :( And how did Mascherano just get sent off?
Cheese.
Yeah I didn't see it too well either, cos I'm watching it online... I only saw it's like the ref was talking to (or warning?) Torres, then Mascherano got involved and said something to the ref. I didn't see the incident/foul itself - was it just Torres or Mas as well? The guy looked like he just lost it.
Lou the Gunneress
Gallas does love scoring against big teams, but he's a regular, not like those squad players you know. Their goal/game ratio must be amazing lol considering how few games they get.
Lou the Gunneress
Can't rely on the bloody scouse to do anything can you? Useless. Torres obviously not all that, he's done ***** all today other than get booked, which leads onto that overrated Argie, Mascherano. Stupid tosser gets himself sent off for nothing, why couldn't he just back off! No, really they're both good players, just *****ed off that they can never, ever, ever do you a favour! Hope we murder them in Europe! Up The Arse!
super_gooner
Gallas to score an own goal. Adeybayor wins a penalty, but misses, spoiled-whiny-child-that-comes-from-a-country-that-hablas-espanol, will make the ref repeat the penalty. Arsenal scores. One minute to go....
k_chelski
Yea, I think he was on a yellow, and just got too involved with the ref's decision. Makes you wonder, how did Cashley get a mere yellow for all that arguing he did in midweek?
Cheese.
3-0 to the arsenal, heck why not?chelsea letting in 4goals against aston villa at home and away at tottenham, why cant we do it,i reckon fabregas, ade and rvp to get us the goals, here's to a win today.
the arsenal
Ashley cole robs the ball,.......... ashley cole.... oooh my what a goal by ashley cole! He has redeemed himself! 30seconds to go...what is this? What a goal by Avram Grant! wonderful overhead kick!.
k_chelski
what a load of crap!!man u just scored and mascherano got sent off, this is not good
the arsenal
kev yu are losing it lol!!what ashley cole will get is a bang in the leg by eboue lol!!
the arsenal
It's obvious the refs now want to put on a brave face and "clam down" that kind of behaviour. Also obvious Liverpool didn't learn from the FA people and the ref supremo guy's grand speeches in the press. Er, maybe they learnt it the wrong way - thinking that they could do a Cashley on Bennett. Don't go against the desperate men who want to save their old faces, man...
Lou the Gunneress
k_chelski, with AG's superb managing skills, and talent for making the right substitutions, surely, his footballing skills must be better than his managerial talent.
Cheese.
I didn't see it clearly, now BBC.com's telling me that it's a foul BY Ferdinand on Torres, who then got booked for dissent. And then Mascherano got involved and booked for the 2nd time. Then what did Ferdinand get? Nothing.
Lou the Gunneress
The Walcott boy to get a brace.
Keplaz
We can't count on Pool anymore, I guess.
Cheese.
I didn't really have high hopes for them anyway.. thought Chelsea would be more able to take points off ManU than them.. but this is getting bad to watch. It seems that the sending-off changed everything.
Lou the Gunneress
What's worse is that this so-called big win will give ManU tremendous over-the-moon belief and they think they're kings of the world now.
Lou the Gunneress
Just imagine even someone like Brown can fully believe he "contained" Fernando Torres and even scored against Liverpool now.
Lou the Gunneress
3 - 0 to ManU. Huge pressure on Wenger and his boys. Let's see the final delivery by you guys.
ivanskg
I still think we can't count on any teams to do us any favours, but with the GD gap as big as it is now, I'm afraid we're going to have to rely on someone else unless we win all our matches by considerably large margins.
Cheese.
ivan, don't you think there's more pressure on Chelsea than on Arsenal? Seeing as they're second favourites with the bookers now..
Cheese.
I'm counting on the Derby game to do something for our goal difference.
Keplaz
Grant would want the CL more (I think) as that's the only trophy Jose can't achieve when he's in-charge at Chelsea.
ivanskg
Anyway, it will be an entertaining game. Both team captains will have to control their players during the match though.
ivanskg
I also felt it'd be more entertaining than the Manchester game, which turned out a bit boring at times tbh. I was also worried about the temperament issue. But after Mascherano, both sets of players should have learnt from that.
Lou the Gunneress
Avram Grant is under huge pressure too. Jose got sacked for winning only the FAC and CC. Yes CL would redeem him but that's a cup game and everyone knows it's as difficult to win as it's tell/plan for. Both teams are going for this league game, under the same amount of pressure. I have a feeling Cesc and Gallas will have a cracking game. (Have I jinxed it now..?!)
Lou the Gunneress
Hehe the Cashley boos are equally loud as the Gallas boos..? Thought the away section's way smaller than the home bunch in any match..?! lol
Lou the Gunneress
Almunia has been really good this first half. :) He had some really good saves.
Cheese.
Yeah he's really fantastic!
Lou the Gunneress
We had some scary moments on the right side. Just when I was thinking when AW would bring on Theo, Eboue got a bit better. The goalmouth confusions were very scary too!
Lou the Gunneress
Eboueeeee..if he gets sent off......!
ajwb
Based on the first half, I think Chelsea are there for the taking if Arsenal could step up a gear. Like in previous games though, I just think we're struggling in the final third and the goals are drying up. We could do with more directness and drive to the opposite goal.
Gooner_Vin
Eboue needs replacing with walcott or he will be OFF!
cockeril
Eboue is really scaring me now. Walcott on Eboue off before he gets a red...
Cheese.
Yeah send on Theo please... Eboue's really dangerous..
Lou the Gunneress
SAGNAA :)
Cheese.
He's actually lucky he's still on the pitch tbh.. Let's give Theo more time to get into the game.. please..
Lou the Gunneress
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG SAGNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAA of all people!! Arsenal account opened!!!!! :D :D :D
Lou the Gunneress
He beats Clichy in the little "which FB will score first" race!!!
Lou the Gunneress
What are these morons booing when Sagna's clearly twisted his ankle and Carvalho's head bleeding?! "Fans" they say they are. Morons.
Lou the Gunneress
Time for Avram's amazing substitutions.
Cheese.
We just don't deserve to win the title. After all that talk all season about this and that, what a huge disappointment. Adebayor has been anonymous today.
Gooner_Vin
well done linesman......once again we have had a vital decision go against us. dont they understand if two opposition players are standing in an offside position when the ball is played, even if they receive the ball in an onside position, they are offside!!! Drogbas equalizer should not have been counted....
fran merida
we didnt deserve to lose dis, not to an offside goal..
luckys_10
Why did Rob Styles insist on waiting time?
Cheese.
Too bad you guys can't hold for a draw at least. Guess CL is your best chance for a silverware this season.
ivanskg
Gutted about the result. A bit disappointed about the off side decision for Drgoba's goal, but the side lacked penetration in the last 20 mins - not a single chance created.
prits
Fran, I need to see that again. It may have been the case. But how many times did we rely on Almunia's great saves to stay in the game, versus how many times did we test Cudicini? And how many times did Eboue escape from bad fouls time and again? What I've seen today is a collective learning curve. Maybe RvP's not 100% yet, maybe Sagna's injury played a part, maybe there's some questionable ref decisions (which went both ways). All the individual problems may be true, but as a team we don't look like champions now.
Lou the Gunneress
Almunia best player by mileeeesssssss! just crap nobody else felt putting any effort in
ajwb
AJwb, come on, I don't think it's a lack of effort. Don't blame it on that just because we're disappointed with the result. Everyone tried hard. But in some areas the understanding's not there yet, especially up front. Hand on heart, tell me if you feel Gallas, Sagna, Kolo, Clichy, Flam, Cesc didn't try hard? Don't go overboard. Liverpool showed a lack of effort/spirit/whatever that was. Not us.
Lou the Gunneress
Btw Fran, did you read that offside clarification article from Hackett (chief of PL refs) that I posted last night? I'm still not sure about what you said. Anyway.
Lou the Gunneress
To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't have complained had Eboue been sent off for a 2nd yellow card. The guy just doesn't learn to be smarter.
Lou the Gunneress
hey losers...told you we will finsih above you.hahahahah...anyway great match and as much as i dislike arsenal..the football at times palyed by you lot is the best in europe..fair play...atleast we put on a better show than those northern idiots!!
essientric
*finish even..though fabregas had a quite game!!
essientric
Brave effort but just not quite good enough. The boys seem to be finding it just too hard going at the moment. Tired minds more than tired bodies really.
Amos.
they was alot of hard work, but i think they could of been more.Oh well!!!
ajwb
We definitely won't win anything this year and it's again back to the drawing board for Arsene. We have no divine right to win trophies but I just wonder if Arsene has veered too much to the beautiful game. The team of Bergkamp, Pires, Henry, Vieire etc, played great football but were more efficient with their passing and put teams away. Something ain't right.
Gooner_Vin
the equaliser was offside, both their players were offside, and that is not the only offside decision the ref got it wrong. really gutted. even last year the ref cost us points in this fixture and now again..
luckys_10
fabregas had a quiet game ...not quite game ^^
ajwb
essientric, isnt it too early to be saying - 'I told you so' ? There are still 7 games to go, you muppet !
prits
1st goal was offside.. 1st goal was offside.. 1st goal was offside.. and that made all the difference.. im sorry.. appalling decision.
arsenalrulz4ever
4 DRAWS AND A LOSS WHO ARE YA WHO ARE YA
pulse
BEAUTIFUL FOOTBALL DONT WIN YOU ***** ALL, QUE ARSENAL LOL!
pulse
fact of the matter is that we dominated the chances..drogba ripped apart your venerable center backs and when we went 4-4-2 you lot had no answer...fact of the matter is we deserved it..even though i do agree the first goal was an offside...but we should have had a penalty too in the first half...but it was i think you lot who were telling me in december that we had no chance..so i think its a definite case of i told you so!!
essientric
tiredness isnt the reason. had the linesman not made the mistake, we would all be celebrating now. it's just that the luck isnt going our way at the moment. and Gooner Vin, we are no way out of the title race with still 7 games left to play and also have the CL final to play for. whatever anyone says, i'm proud of the lads and the effort they showed today, and makes me really proud to be a gooner..
luckys_10
The word 'FREEFALL' comes to mind. lol
YidEdy
that was no way a penalty on Kalou, as both players were going for the ball, so dun come and sprout ur bull***** here..
luckys_10
talk about having no moral fiber..the ability to pick one self up is something arsenal do not have and 'mr t' being captain does not help..i pity you fools!!:D
essientric
i think the commentators made it very clear that that would have been a foul anywhere on the pitch..its another matter that clattenberg is a softie and would not give it!!
essientric
a chav banging on about moral fibre - what a ******** joke !
prits
Shame we don't play you again, it could have been a 6 pointa !!
YidEdy
It's that ref decision game again. Look, if we had even tested Cudicini with more decent shots, or even some goals disallowed, at least we did have something to show and I would now be louder when I say we're robbed, you know?
Lou the Gunneress
Say what you will about this team and our title chances, I don't think they gave up today. I have never been a prouder Gooner than I have this season. They lack experience, depth, blah blah blah and somehow they still managed to give the so-called invincible Man Utd and Chelsea a real run. Yes, it's nice to be winning but even when we're not, all you other Gooners know deep down we are the best team in England, even if we don't win the PL, or the CL. The squad we have are absolutely amazing. Could a Man Utd side with all their players a couple of years younger be on top for so long? No. Nor can a young Chelsea squad. If there is any better young squad than ours, name it. Each and every player has been, overall, phenomenal this season, and even if we don't win, this team deserves more praise than it ever received, and we should always, win or lose, be proud, proud, Gooners. This team have exceeded every expectation, made every doubter eat their words, and made every true Gooner, extremely proud.
Cheese.
cheer up girls. your ladies won 6-0 today!!!!!
dspurs64
When a defender heads an attacker on the shoulder...pretty sure it's a penalty.
k_chelski
the commentators also said, that both players were going for the ball and was just a clash of heads. JT does dis week in n week out..
luckys_10
Well done Chavski, the best team won. Gallas you should'a stayed put, then you might not have had that mental breakdown the other day.
YidEdy
I don't think we deserved to lose. But we didn't have enough to win either. That's the bottomline for me.
Lou the Gunneress
so why doesent JT get punished for it every single week?
luckys_10
Kiss the title goodbye! Utd can afford to lose 2 games and still win. Wenger does like to set himself to fall flat on his face. Was there any need to go mouthing off about you are going to win the title before the game. Subs changed the game and Arsene made yours too late, Van Persie and Adebayor did not get a touch in the second half. Chavs deserved the win and had several chances to score. CL is your only realistic target now.
cockeril
luckys_10 - maybe i am being a little pessimistic but we're lacking that early season form we had and the goals/chances are drying up, exactly in the wrong part of the season. Also, we can't grind out wins or keep clean sheets either!
Gooner_Vin
Been a while since I last saw Terry heading someone on the shoulder and not making a single contact with the ball whilst knocking down the opponent.
k_chelski
Cheese, that was the most delusional post I have ever had the misfortune of reading, whats wrong with you mate.
Guyver
Did anyone notice Terry trying to injure Hleb by letting Hlebs foot strike his? Hleb might have broken his foot. I hope Terry apologises.
Amos.
LOL ARENAL ARE ******** *****, 4 DRAWS AND A LOSS
pulse
Yeah CL eh... if we'd beat them there, I wud luv it! Absolutely luv it! Once again, I just don't know what this result will do to our confidence. But then Liverpool looked far worse at OT (strangely despite their recent run of results) and they aren't looking confident.
Lou the Gunneress
what you on about amos, terry tried to get the ball from hleb kicking it up, get a clue
pulse
HAHA, YEAH WIN THE 3RD POSITION, LET ALONE THAT
pulse
just saw Arsene's interview and i haven't seen him so disappointed for a long long time. but yu cud tell by looking in his eyes that he hasn't given up on this title and he will not till the last game, and i'm sure now we will win something come may, whether its the league or the CL, i dun know, but we will win something..
luckys_10
i would love nothing more than going back to the chavs and beat them in the CL semi. i'm praying now that we beat pool and they overcome the turks..
luckys_10
Forgive me pulse. I thought it was an automatic foul if someone kicks someone elses foot in your game. Usually followed by frantic demands for apologies and red cards.
Amos.
LOL KEEP PRAYING, POO WILL RAPE YOU, 4 DRAWS AND A LOSS!
pulse
err, was you watching it? hleb went to kick the ball up, but terry stuck his leg in the way, hence hleb kicking terry
pulse
Yes that's right pulse. I understand it perfectly now. Any regret that we may have had when Terry got injured last time we met can be forgotten then.
Amos.
ADE ADEBAYOR CUTS OF HIS HAIR N FORGETS HOW TO SCORE.
dspurs64
haha none of that matters anymore, chelsea > arsenal very much so
pulse
Is it wrong to have belief in your team, Guyver?
Cheese.
1. Is Diaby the most pedestrian player in the PL? He doesn't know how to tackle. Why did he ever come on? 2. Adebayor doesn't want to play CF. I am fed up with his marauding. He should be more direct in the face of the opposite defenders. Drogba does it all game long. 3. We need a proven scorer. Vela coming back is not going to change anything. We do not have enough experience up front. 4. 1-0 up, it should have been game over. Why keep chasing the game? 5. Chelsea are only a point ahead so if they are still in it so are we.
Gael-Force
Even if David failed to beat Goliath, he's still admirable because he tried.
Lou the Gunneress
cockeril, they've got no chance of winning the CL. I predicted on this site, that we started their down fall for trophy's and I said that one by won you'll ***k all of them up. You lot are too smug, and think you've just got to turn up to win games. 4 draws and a loss says it all. You'll win sod all this year, just like I said. COYS
YidEdy
There's got to be something positive coming. You can't go on like this with 3 results cost by ref decisions in the past 5. We've had our share of bad luck. We're due some good results. lol
Lou the Gunneress
That may well be true YidEdy but most of you (at the very least your owners) would still swap your CC trophy for CL football next season.
Amos.
Surprised to see so many many Spurs fans here. Actually, I'm not. It's as if they sit and wait for us to slip up so they can come here and comment.
Cheese.
Actually Amos given the choice I'd take silverwear over also rans any day. People only remember who wins trophy's, Not who took part in the tournament.
YidEdy
I don't think it's Simmo's predictions that cost us games anymore. We're going to start having to blame something else now, lol.
Cheese.
Yeah Cheese that trend is led by your mates, Lucky10, Puregold etc. we just carry on the tradition.
YidEdy
Drogba yesterday: "I need the fans to unsettle Gallas." Drogba today, post-match, on Gallas getting booed by home fans: "I think the fans should have shown more respect for Gallas, he gave us two titles and we wish him all the best." lol lol Just how do their fans relate to "heroes" like him?
Lou the Gunneress
Cheese, its wrong to have false belief in your team. All teams have delusional fans, i just like pointing them out, especially when their posts are as arrogant as yours was.
Guyver
Arsene better break the bank and get some feared impact players in... Someone who loves scoring and who will not disappear in big games like a Sam Eto'o...
Gael-Force
YidEdy we have stopped commenting after ur losses long ago cuz yu literally lose every week, and it's become kinda boring to come and rub salt in ur wounds :p..
luckys_10
At least when Bergkamp was there, we were creating chances thru the middle. Now Ade goes roaming, a cross comes in and noone is there. Why? Because our main striker is the one crossing the ball or worse standing by the corner flag.
Gael-Force
And i missed you so much lucky, thought i'd pop on and say hello, and look at the welcome I get. Should't have bothered.
YidEdy
Guyver, you have every right to point anything out and you've done so. If you don't like what you see here, feel free to go, unless you enjoy torturing yourself by seeing what you hate to see ("delusional" comments according to you). It's for your own good. Enjoy life otherwise.
Lou the Gunneress
At 1-0 up we should sit back, let them play through 2 banks of 4 and hit on the counter. Others teams do it to us week in week out. Fabregas should have calmed the play and slowed down the game. Maybe we needed Gilberto and Lehman's experience today.
Gael-Force
when the manager continues to select eboue, and replaces the best player on the park when we're leading, then some questions need to be asked
bseymour
You don't really mean that you would take a CC every year and 11/10th place in the PL Yid Edy. Not really. Be honest. You would prefer to end up in the top four and be challenging for the CL every year. Even if you don't make it you would prefer to at least be challenging for the PL wouldn't you. The CC is a comfort blanket for you but its not really what you really want now is it.
Amos.
CHEESE.of course we're gonna be on here wen u slip up. what you want us to come on here and wish you luck or congratulate you. no true spurs fan gonna do that. your gonna win ***** all.
dspurs64
Gael, your point on Ade's positioning is very interesting. I've actually been wondering about this for many weeks now. Keep recalling a Wenger post-match comment after Ade scored some header or poacher's goal or something: "It's his style to float around and he likes to go back to collect the ball because he loves playing so much that he wants to stay involved. But today we've seen how lethal he can be if he stays in the middle." Now that we've got RvP back in the "Bergkamp" role doing all the link-up work, I wonder if it's time for Ade to play the "big guy up front" role and do a centre forward's things, e.g. shoot more, terrorise CB's, use his height, etc.?
Lou the Gunneress
Lou..."I just LIKE pointing them out" That part of my post should have been pretty simple to understand. I never said I had a problem with what ive read here, apart from that 1 post. No matter where I go i'll read rubbish like that and every now and again will highlight what I think, whats the problem? Anyway did you actually read what he said?
Guyver
Meant this year Amos, but it's all about winning, you know that as much as I do. And on the subject of honesty, which would you rather Win the CC, or sod all this year?
YidEdy
Ade's centre of gravity is far to high for him to be as good a dribbler as he thinks he is. His touch is a tad heavy for midfield interplay. He needs to stay in the face of the defence and keep them on their toes but he doesn't like to do that. RvP is back but he was playing on the left and Hleb floating. So why was Ade not in Terry's face inviting crosses and holding the ball up the field? bemuses me...
Gael-Force
A fit RvP can lead us to the title. We need 7 wins and MU to lose one and draw a couple. Unlikely but we live in hope.
Gael-Force
In all honesty I would rather qualify for the CL next year than win the CC - and so would you really.
Amos.
Squad is way too thin. Our bench is not half as good as MU or Chelsea... When Chelsea bring on Anelka and MU bring on Tevez, we bring on pedestrian-won't-tackle-Diaby
Gael-Force
unlucky guyz but u can now concentrate on keeping liverpool off your backs in the league and CL
MrDax
And be also rans next year!! No, Not really, I'd like to win the Uefa next year, and qualify for CL next year through the league. In the perfect world, but for this year, after a bad start, I'm happy to settle for this. We'd not win the CL next year, where as we've a good chance of winning the Uefa. That would give us a much better chance the following year. But with a trophy in the bag it builds confidence for the campaigne ahead.
YidEdy
blame arsene wenger for not BUYING better players. the reason u are falling apart is because wenger thinks his squad is good enuf when everyone knows it isnt. ulot need another center foward, a left sided midfielder and a center back/left back
MrDax
Not here to gloat, personally thought it was a very good game of football, both teams wanted to win. Yes it was offside for the first goal, but I think we showed a bit more hunger in the second half.
Adilson
MrDax, if you are in the title race, so are we, cuz we are only one point behind yu guys. there are lots n lots of twists n turns left before the season is over..
luckys_10
Did Adebayor really have his hair cut or is his 1 leg brother playing now?
n17 yid
I think i'd rather be in the CL than in that weird UEFA Cup playing the Armenia bielefelds or Zabor St Petersburg of this world (no disrespect). The jackpot for winning the UEfa cup is 1.5m, less than the guaranteed money of the CL group stages.
Gael-Force
but u have to go to anfield and old trafford and i cant see u winning either..... plus the wheels have fallen off while our are just starting to gather steam
MrDax
Your right in a way Lucky, but your battle with Chavski is for 2nd place. Utd. would have to ***k up big time before any of you get another sniff.
YidEdy
n17 yid, your attempt to insult Ade/us has only backfired to insult yourself as a human being. You can enjoy seeing us lose a game, but to even feel what you said was humorous is pathetic. I feel sad for you.
Lou the Gunneress
We can't win without Cesc but we can't expect him to play all the 60 games. He'll be wasted by 24. We just have to wait for our young talent to blossom. Arsene prefers to buy unproven and unknown gems that will take 5 years to develop. Ferguson on the other hand is happy to lay 30m for a young Rooney and 35m for Nani and Anderson, 13m on Ronaldo, 20 odd on Tevez. They are unproven at the time but having seen their progress SAF knows they will blossom soon enough. More expensive but less of a risk and ready in a couple of years.
Gael-Force
we have already played at anfield max, and well yu can say what yu want now, but lets see what the league table says after 38 games played..
luckys_10
But that obviously wern't an option this year was it Gael-Force. And for me I'd rather win the Uefa, that wierd little cup like the CC, than have a meaningless CL experience next year. (Money aside). I think next year we'll be a different team, and you lot know it.
YidEdy
It's maybe a case of different expectations then YidEdy. If we were to drop out of CL place then the CC would be no compensation whatsoever. But if I were a spurs supporter I can appreciate that the CC is some comfort for an indifferent season in which you will not end up anywhere near where you wanted to be. The good thing about football is that there is always next season for you. Ours isn't quite over just yet but we can also afford to be optimistic about next season.
Amos.
jesus christ, Lou the Gunneress - "insult yourself as a human being" - lighten up! (no-wonder everyone hates you and your fellow whinging gooner fans)
united4life
Not so much expectations as reality. For us it's about steady progress, something that has been impossible for us with the high management turnover. In Ramos we have a Manager with balls, and a winning pedigree. I've always known it was never about players with us and you, but the difference was the manager, or lack of one. For years we've said next year, next year, and you taunt us for that at every opportunity. But it's a new day at WHL, and I know you know it. This season is done for us, so I'm delighted with a trophy from an otherwise dead season. I think if we impact the top four next season, it will Not be a one off. Then maybe our expectations will change.
YidEdy
Anyone remember how we got nothing to play for since like Dec or even earlier last year? Those few months towards the end was a pain. This year it's not. Although we should put up an even bigger fight, what we've seen so far is already commendable.
Lou the Gunneress
and Almunia may have made the save of the season later on, but i hate to say it, we need a new keeper. his reflexes are not the sharpest. he shud have saved the second goal. i remember him conceeding a similar goal vs sunderland earlier in the season, which was savable too. i love the bloke and i'm a big fan of his, but he really needs to work harder at his sharpness and reflexes if he is to be our number one next season..
luckys_10
I will not let this title go, regardless of how much the officials want to tear away our right to challenge! Come on Arsenal!!!
flv
I don't see the problem Chelski deserved to win, end of. Overall Chelski have a better team & squad than us & in Drogba have a striker thats superior to anything we have, but both teams are completely inferior to Man Utd who are way ahead. YidEdy, spurs will be completely different next season but will they be any better, thats the real question?? Ramos will make changes but you don't know how that will affect the team. He inherited a great squad at Sevilla but he wasn't doing so well this season when he left. At the end of next season we will see how good/bad he is!!
Ashburton Gooner
Jol didn't do a bad job for you YidEdy. Most of your lot (and a few pundits) fully expected you to make the breakthrough this season. Ramos looks a good man but then I thought the same about Jol. If you look at Ramos' record in the league this season since he took over it's only good enough to put you back more or less where you have been for the last few couple of seasons - no better. Maybe he will do better next season - that has to be the aspiration. For us whatever happens we will have performed better this season than the last couple. We will have more resources to build on next year so while not picking up a trophy will be disappointing there are very few teams that we would swap places with.
Amos.
There's no doubt that we've had a rotten run of luck recently but if you look at it we've lost this title in the last 4 draws. Man U and Chelsea can grind out results more than we can. We were to a certain extend early in the season. So disappointing as this would have been such a great title to win and i really thought we were going to do it!
Gooner_Vin
luckys_10,told you you didnt have the balls to come on vital chelsea, now, you kept on and on and on what your bottleless w@nkers were gonna do to us and look ..you got done, and made yourself look a mughead you really are LOSER!!! you made yourself look like the low life top hat that you are!! carefree!!
springy
U4L then who do you think this "Ade's 1 leg brother" is?
Lou the Gunneress
luckys-10 WHERE ARE YA ! lucks_10 WHERE ARE YA !!! FECKIN LOSER!!
springy
ALL SING TOGETHER NOW TO THE TUNE WALK ON...GALLAS GALLAS, YOUR A **** YOUR A ****, AND YOU'LL ALWAYS BE A **** , YOU'LL ALWAYS BE A **** !! CAREFREE!!!
springy
feel free to put luckys _10 in the song instead of gallas!!!
springy
And U4L, if I said something wrong, I own up to it. Please don't generalise it to the other Gooners or whoever else you happen to come across. Individuals are individuals. No need for "no-wonder everyone hates you and your fellow whinging gooner fans". Now tell me if it was more wrong to say "Ade's 1 leg bro" or "you've insulted yourself as a human being". In fact if n17 yid told me it meant something else and I was entirely over-reacting, I'm ready to apologise and own up. To him. But until you tell me why what I said was more offensive than what n17 yid said, and I was totally in the wrong about my interpretation of his words, what you said to me was an equally off the mark, no?
Lou the Gunneress
springy yu classless ****, if yu actually take the pains and go through all the posts, i was the first person to tell yu just how lucky yu were today with the offside goal, and based on today's performance, i'm convinced we will definetly finish above yu and even win something. and keep hurling all the personal insults, that is all spineless **** like yu is capable of..
luckys_10
Lou why are yu even giving an explaination to him. he is not better than the worse chav or spud on this network..
luckys_10
I really am big enough to own up to anything I did wrong. It gets on me when people say you Gooners are this, you Gooners are that. Actually I've been (trying my best to stay) reasonable here. I don't even wind people up. I dare say I'm probably one of the very few Gooners here who don't hate Spurs or Chelsea or ManU. While I actually make an effort to stay sane and diplomatic here - I keep using their proper names (except "Cashley") for God's sake - this is what I'm getting. I have every right to ask why. That's all I'm saying Luckys.
Lou the Gunneress
Jol did ok for us, and like most other Spurs fans I liked the bloke, but like Avram, he made huge mistakes in the games that really mattered. Hence the famous 2-0 and u ***ked it up. Well he did, and we needed some one who wouldn't. That's what I think of Ramos. In the big games so far he's been far superior to that of MJ. People talk about you lot playing your kids in the CC, but those are the same kids that destroyed the scousers, and would have destroyed us under Jol, again. If he shows consistancy, and that's what it's all about, THEN we'll be a different team.
YidEdy
Lou, it's only to wind yu up and hurt yu. your one of the very few decent gooners here whom i've never seen hurle even a word or abuse. that U4L is only taking the ***** out of yu specially after our defeat. i know and more importantly yu know yu have never said anything wrong to anyone here since yu've been here, so please ignore him and dun react to such idiots..
luckys_10
thats the trouble with you luckys_10 cant see that you were beaten fairly,we dont go on about gallas fouling ben haim for his goal at cashburden, untill then you had no shot on goal and eboue removed that obstacle with a career threatening tackle on terry.you got fairly beaten and ive got a stack full of texts from gooners saying the better team won. as soon as you acknowledge that you might get some respect fro other fans, but no you go on VC and say we were lucky no thats spineless...we was not lucky we won you lost r sole!!
springy
Save your breath Lou Lou, your a cut above. As for Lucky I see he's been busy making more friends, and I thought it was just us he tried to get at. Ever wonder why other team fans suddenly come tearing onto your site, full with hatered and abuse. Ask Lucky your ambassador.
YidEdy
Aaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Blue is the colour
Wheels are sloooooowly coming off. hows that PL going Fran...?? Won many recently? LOL :)))
Blue is the colour
and you will not finish above us not with your liverpool man u games to come,luckys_10 how do you feel, humiliated after what you said was gonna happen???!! mug
springy
I know. I've always thought this site, with the quality content and (mostly) decent posters, could have been a better place. That's why I make an effort to stay decent regardless of defeats or injustice or whatever we face. Seems like even when everything's going for them, some people just can't be fair for a while. If I were a ManU fan, I would be so happy to death today instead of picking on people you know.
Lou the Gunneress
Lou i think you need to put your computer down and go to bed, i think its all got a bit much for you today. No offence was meant all i was saying is Adebayor has not looked the same since he had his hair cut.
n17 yid
springy i dont want any respect from ppl like yu, cuz ur not a fan, ur a disgrace to ur family, let alone ur shady club..
luckys_10
Thanks n17 yid, glad you clarified what you wanted to say. And I also said what I didn't like about what you said. But it's not because "it's got all a bit much for me today" but because it's unfair. Fine, I'm drawing a line there. And despite people I've seen here, I stand by what I said, I hold no bad feelings towards anyone supporting ManU or Spurs or Chelsea, because hatred would only make me sick, like some.
Lou the Gunneress
N17Yid, Lou Lou's cool, she ain't like them other sulkin gooners :-)
YidEdy
As for Lucky, puretart and them though. Bring it on. COYS
YidEdy
you know what i love about this eddy, all these gooners keep mentioning how we spurs and arsnal are leagues apart, yet we manage to score 4 goals against the chavs without anything to play for, infact spurs have scored more goals then arsenal this season in the league, whos the more attractive side now you boring bas-tards
5-1
Calm down 5-1. You have scored 1 goal more than us in the PL season so far. And we beat the Chavs in our home game.
Amos.
amos considering our start to the season and our league pos the fact that we are 2nd highest scorers in the league is an amazing feat, and besides you beating chelsea got you nowhere, when we beat em we got a trophy
5-1
I don't know why you lot are so pessimistic. You are still very much in the title race, and although it sticks in my throat to say it, in my opinion you are the best footballing side among the top 3 at the moment. Utd, for all Ferguson's pronouncements about his side maturing, are not really playing that well and I amsure they will drop points before the end of the season. It's up to you (and the Chavs unfortunately) to keep the pressure on and see what happens. I hope we will be able to provide you with a credible challenge next year but I agree with Ashburton Gooner, we will have to wait and see what Ramos produces next season...I'm optimistic!
Jollyboysouting
Next year will be alot different. and your right yidedy and 5-1, they know it. The Chavs know it too.
AggressiveSpurs
We are a lot closer than they think 5 -1. And next year we'll prove it
YidEdy
