Much better possession with a modified midfield playing at home than in the midweek CL qualifier. Territorial advantage also impressive at 59.7% as it should be in a home game. Our passing success rate at 88.6% compared to 73.2% for the away side along with our possession explains a low tackle rate of 11 with 72.7% success compared to the Baggies 22 tackles but with only 59.2% success. We had so much of the ball we didn't have to fight to win it back. With all that possession the one statistic that sticks out is that we had 28 attempts at goal with only 6 on target. We won't be allowed to get away with such profligacy in too many games.

It will come with match sharpness. While the statistic of only 6 shots on target maybe some miniscule cause for concern, the fact that we had 28 shot should quell the "shoot brigade". Overall, a satisfying start to the season (especially with other results going the way they did ;))

What do you all make of the Djourou-Gallas argument? I thought Gallas was right out of line. He made the mistake of playing the offside trap when it wasn't necessary; the rest of our back four didnt move up too. Then Johan made a fantastic block and Gallas still gave him crap. Even Almunia and Sagna had to get on Gallas to shut up and defend the corner.

love wengers comment "it is more important to finish fourth than to finish 12th and win the Carling Cup" (spuds any1)

missed almost the whole first half due the game being shown at 5:30AM(in western Canada). I'm jus glad we got the 3 pts and didnt concede any of these weak goals we always seem to concede ( almost happened but Djourou bailed us out). Nasri already doing better then hleb. i just we get that DM and have everyone back healthy.

Thats Gallas style, he takes charge. I dont think anyone should read too much into that.

I understand that prits but I thought it was so unnecessary. Firstly it was his fault that WBA had a scoring opportunity then Djourou bailed him out and gave Gallas still gave him crap about it. He should of done what Almunia did and praise Djourou.

I thought everyone moved up apart from Djourou. He did well with the clearence but it wasn't a big deal. Gallas job is to lead and to command, let's not make something out of nothing.

I know it's too early to wax lyrical about Nasri, but he's shown a lot of qualities in 90 mins (a bit surprising that he lasted the whole game too). He's got lots of skills like Hleb, but he's more direct with good end product and much more willingness to shoot. At this rate it's not difficult to score more than 2 league goals in a season I suppose..?

At last back to business! Thought we played well, and I was stoked Nasri scored on his debut, and on the whole thought we played well as a unit, although Ade was a bit selfish taking shots when there were better options available... Looking at news-now many of the reports seen to suggest we were lucky to come away with all 3 points - what game were they watching?

And fellow Gooners, how satisfying is that that the Spuds go and lose on the first day too...go onto their site and read the doom and gloom already!
