Familiar looking possession stats that the whole team contributed to. We made a total of 495 passes with 85% success rate compared to the home sides 349 with 79% completion. Fabregas on his own made as many passes (95)as the Blackburn central midfield pair with a higher degree of accuracy (79%). A statistical curiousity only is that Cesc was the least accurate of the Arsenal outfield starters but still made far more successful passes than any other player. The international break has enabled a rested Denilson to up his passing success rate to 85% and pick up another assist in setting Ade's first goal. A pleasing stat, given the reputed toughness of northern sides, is that we made more tackles (15) and with a higher degree of success (73.3%) than Blackburn.

I must say I like the clean sheet more than anything today. Correct me if am wrong, aint we the only team that has conceeded only 1 goal until now this season in the PL?

i hope the injuries of clichy & eboue are not serious. clichy is a vital player for us, but it's Eboue who has looked a totally different footballer this season. he looks menacing everytime he is on the ball. and any news on Samir? will he be available for bolton?
luckys_10
n lads, just have a look at the league table. it's makes for a wonderful reading at the bottom end :)
luckys_10
One more stat - young Jack has set a new record as the youngest player to play for Arsenal in the league and the PL at 16 years and 256 days. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wilshere-makes-history-with-late-appearance

the mighty spuds are surely on the up aint they?4 games and 3 clean sheets for us!so far we got the best defence and 2nd in goals scrored!so far so good
the arsenal
Is there a pattern to the penatly kicks, anyone? In that RVP took the other one this season and now Ade. Think they taking turns or making up as they go (While it doesn't really matter as long as they go in except for those of us with RVP in the fantasy team)

It's all good at the moment, a clean sheet, 4 goals scored, Adebayor's hat-trick, spuds holding up the rest of the EPL, Fergie being out thought, and his team outplayed, Newcastle fans showing that they would rather protest than support their team on the pitch, Man City fans learning that spending 32.5 on one player, does not buy you 3pts!
hackneyval
th41, I was wondering too. I guess they take turns this season, depending who's fit and confident at the time. I had Ade in my fantasy team so no complaints ;) Hackneyval, to add to your list of happy things - John Terry got sent off for a yellow card (imo) foul lol, and Vidic got red-carded too, suspended when they face each other next week lol.. did you also watch Sir Red Nose's post-match scathing comments? Nothing positive except maybe Ferdinand? How I laughed...

I don't like the trend at Arsenal under Wenger to rotate penalty takers. Our conversion rate in his tenure is actually poor, though it's improved since Henry stopped taking them (when Lauren was infinitely better). Penalties are a confidence thing and you should have one taker who has it clear in his mind that when a pen is given, they pick up the ball and take it. Has to be RvP, all of Ade's go in the same place, RvP has pwoer and variety and I'd back him to score more than he misses. Ade will miss his next one I'm sure.

wt r yu saying LD. i agree RVP is our best penalty taker & i always want him to take all our penalties. but Thierry Henry is probably the best penalty taker i've seen. i dun think he has missed more than 2 or 3 penalties in his entire Arsenal career. The ones that come to my mind are the one vs Inter in the cl, and a miss vs Bolton in the league. .
luckys_10
I make THs conversion rate 23 out of 29, that's under 80%. Not brilliant when pitted against Le Tissier, Shearer and Yakubu. Lauren has missed one penalty out of 16 taken in his career. Henry's misses were Donetsk (Wiltord scored rebound), Inter, Southampton x2 (one in 2000, one in 2004), Bolton and Ajax. 3 of those misses did not hit the target.
Little Dutch
Oh, it's Ade who asked RvP to let him take the penalty. So Robin's still the designated guy for penalties (which makes sense to me), but Ade wanted to win back our love I guess: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/2958681/Arsene-Wenger-relishes-Arsenals-stylish-show-of-solidarity---Football.html

LD, think you should give Henry 1/2 a miss for the infamous Pires airswing against Man City too :-).
